    Ok...Other than a VFR or BMW what is another reliable bike?

    I was looking at a Triumph Sprint but I don't know much about them...I remember the old triumphs to be horrible bikes, leaking oil etc...

    Thanks

    reliable??? those old sears norco mountian bikes are very reliable, but I guess you want one with an engine. (if you pm a few guys on here we can mod a chainsaw engine onto one)

    What intentions are you planning on using the ride for? Cruiser, sport cruise, Super Motard, track ride?
    I am new to Hondas, but the inline 4's of the asian varieties have treated me well for reliability for sport tour and track.

    I looked into the Sprints before I finally decided on the VFR. The earlier models (before '04 or '05?) had some issues with premature valvetrain wear; I think it was valve guide related, but I don't remember now. I took an '06 for a test ride, and liked it quite a bit. The '07 had the clip-ons set back further and higher, about equivalent to Helibars on a VFR. There were only two "issues", from my perspective;

    1. No suspension adjustments (same as VFR)
    2. Triumph dealers are few and far between, so parts and emergency service could be a problem

    I was seriously looking at buying a Kawasaki Concours before coming across the VFR I finally bought. Everything I read and everyone I spoke with raved about the Concours and it's reliability.

    MY buddie rides an 02 Sprint st and its a very nice bike. A lot like our VFR's but different. Riding my 01 VFR and his Sprint I prefer the VFR obviously but the Triumph is a pretty close second. Good enough brakes, weak suspension, great sound just like our VFR's. Everyone I've talk to about them who has one or had one loves them. Good luck!

    what makes the sprint doubly tempting is the low price. Its like 40% cheaper than a comparable VFR.

    What is your budget for this new bike? The 03 and back FZ1, although carbureted, is a pretty reliable and fairly comfortable
    bike. The newer FZ with FI is not as comfortable a riding position. Kaw Versys is another bike to consider, but again I don't know hat you want to pay. Suzuki V strom 1000 is pretty comfy but tall. Very reliable and easy to find dealers.

    Yeah, the resale value of most Triumphs is pretty low it seems. My buddie paid 4k for an 02 St with 5k miles on her and I've seen cheaper deals in the area.

    Suzuki V Strom 650 (aka "Wee Strom") is a much under-appreciated bike. The engine is smooth and surprisingly quick. Good in the twisties. I had one for a year or so and really liked it. I'm trying to convince the wife that I need one to complement my VFR. :nono:
