Ok...So for the last couple of days I have been waking up at about 3:00 am in agony.
It feels like my kidneys are going to explode but I think it may be back pain from riding the VFR.

I am wondering if a propped up seat would help , maybe a gel pad and some risers.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar pain and what it turned out to be before i get to the doctor on Monday.

It just started this week after returning to work....from 3 months off...maybe its work...hahaha

A lot of guys wear a kidney belt but I'd wait for the doctor and/or a physiotherapist to check you out before committing to a particular solution.

Don't mess with the seat. Bar risers may help.
But it may not be related to the bike at all. See a doc, get an expert opinion.

Recurrent pain in the kidney area that keeps you up at night warrants a doctor visit. Without getting all scary or asking for too much info, which is none of my business anyways, many men experience kidney stones at a relatively young age. I havent, but I have watched some guys suffer with it for quite a while before finally getting it diagnosed and treated.

I think if one had a Klingon on his butt he would know.

I'm waiting for the faith healers and the organic broccoli poltice advocates to chime in and fix ya right up.

When you decided to make a doctors appointment was a very important step.
You knew at a certain point of pain and frustration that is was beyond your own diagnosis and now you will get an answer instead of suffering. You became a patient instead of a victim.

Some people are so egotistical or stubborn they will not go to a doctor.

I used to have horrible leg pains and I thought it was from my new car that was my 1st stick-shift vehicle. I tolerated it for a few months till it would wake me up at night. Horrible agonizing pain.

Turned out it was a Tumor sitting on a lumbar nerve sheath near my spine.

Long story short, I'm ok now but you should see a doctor.

my chiropractor says pain is like the bodies check engine light. You wouldn't drive around with your check engine light on and you wouldn't put a piece of tape over the light to mask the pain (i.e. pills).

    Unless you're me.

But the Check Engine Light is only serious if it's flashing.

sooooooo....pain is only serious if it's throbbing?

In all seriousness, it's probably muscle spasms in the lumbar region. Do your abs / core strengthening and it should go away !!

The correct answer is to see your doctor. Don't assume "it will go away". I had a pain in my leg that wouldn't go away and my first doctor was trying to convince me it was just a strain. When i pressed him they did a test and confirmed my suspicions that it was a blood clot. that "strain" would have killed me if i listened to that jerk! Make sure you force your doctor to check for everything; don't let him/her pass it off for something minor if you aren't happy with their answer.

On another note, if your married then don't worry about it. It's just your wife kicking your ass while your asleep!
