Sorry to disappoint all you guys out there that bought the VFR to replace your sport bikes! I replaced my '04 gen 6 with a '10 gen 7 back in April. This new bike fit the bill perfectly! Then after a couple months of riding the new bike I got rid of my '08 CBR 1000rr and thought I could be satisfied with only the Viffer. After a bike trip to Colorado in Sept. I realized that I made a terrible mistake! Don't get me wrong, the VFR is an awesome bike; horsepower in spades, long distance comfort, great brakes but it's still 600 pounds! So to fill the void in my life I picked up another real sportbike: a 2010 Ducati 1198S !! DSC00661email.jpg Exotic Italian twins......... I brought this one home with me last week !!

Having done nearly all of my riding in Colorado, I too thought that I was over the whole superbike thing. I figured that I had seen it all in terms of performance street riding and that it was time to get a bike that allows for long distance exploration, hence the 6 gen. I was wrong, I'm nowhere close to being over it. Making matters worse is that I am beginning to realize that there is little need to ever leave Colorado for two wheel excitement when I've got thousands of miles of some of the best motorcycling roads that the world has to offer minutes from my front door, causing me to wonder if I'll be hanging on to my VFR. Like you're saying, I love the bike, in fact, it's probably the best bike I've ever owned, just not the funnest machine ever. So to solve the problem I've decided to purchase an Aprilia RSV4 in the spring, lest Honda confirm that they will be producing a V4 superbike in the very near future. At that point I guess the decision will be made as to whether or not I will keep my beloved VFR. I guess one excuse to hang on to it would be for those rare occasions when I need to cross a good chunk of the state to get to a new stretch of road. As in love with the RSV4 that I am, I find it difficult to believe that I could do a five hundred mile ride on it.

Congrats on the new Duc, that is one sexy machine.

Amen brother..........!! There's a little motorcycle shop I know of in Lakeville, MN called LEO's that has a very sexy 2010 RSV4 at a VERY discounted price !! It was a tough decision, but I chose the Duc. Best of luck friend................!!

^^^ Drop me a line the next time you're in town. I'd be happy to show you the roads the locals ride...and bring the Duc, where we're going you're gonna need it.

It is a tough call, I like the Aprilia for obvious reasons, but next to the MV Agusta I think the 848/1098/1198 are the best looking bikes on the planet.

Thanks, I'll do it! I did a ride with the 'BMW guys' two years ago around the Denver/front range. 400miles, 10 peaks over 10k elevation. There were over a hundred riders and I was the only one on a VFR! That Mt. Evans Parkway was a hoot! I'd love to do it again!! BTW, the MV is definitely the best looking bike on the planet, hands down!!

Yeah, Mt Evans offers a little of everything, including 14k plus of HP killing elevation. That alone creates all the purpose I need for an Italian machine. Do you remember doing more of a canyon run through a place called Deckers? Or Peak to Peak?

Not sure of the name of the roads/areas. I know we hit a lot of the twisties between Golden and Dillon south of 70 then we ran north to Steamboat and back by way of Kremling for lunch. The afternoon was a jog over to Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park (VERY bad on a Sat. in August!) before our return for dinner. All I know is that I cupped the shoulders of the front tire of my '04 viffer on that one day of riding! Guess I was hitting the front brakes a little hard coming down some of the passes..........!
