I'm about to pick up a 2002 VFR w/ABS. I'll search the forum for specifics, but I'm wondering about known issues (regulator/rectifier), recalls, or other common problems with this particular bike. Any heads up or pointers will be appreciated.

I've been riding for about 40 years, currently own (and am keeping) a modified 2005 Harley Sportster 1200 that I've set up for long distance. I recently sold a 2006 Yamaha FJR 1300 and am buying the VFR as a lighter-weight replacement for that bike.

I'm looking forward to participating on this forum.

    First. Welcome !
    things to know,
    you have a 6th gen,
there is a recall on the wiring, take your vin to a dealer and check that its done/ still available,

Stay away from BadBilly, if you cant just tolerate him, he will give up eventually

download the 2002-2008 manual, found in the mechanics garage for 6th gens, it tells you almost everything,

6thgens suffer from sub 5k rpm handling issues, dont close the throttle for going around street corners, when you open the throttle the power comes back unevenly and has cause the purchase of new boxers at least twice.

you will suffer from this hugh grinn one you get it out on a straight away and open that V-tech in 5th gear. and if you live in a region that gets snow, then PMS (Parked Motorcyle Syndrom) durring the off season

Thanks for the feedback: I'l ensure the recall was done. On the throttle issue, I wonder if the throttle tube has a steep initial ramp. I had that issue on my FJR and a G2 Throttle tube with a more gradual entry fixed it. I've searched this forum for any G2 Throttle tube use, but haven't found anything. As to snow, none here. I live on the central coast of CA.
