Yesterday, while stopped at a light with my 91 750f, I raced one of those new Nissan Skyline GTRs....

I will tell you that he smoked me and I couldn't believe it.

    Amazingly fast car...

Today was one of those magical days...

I found my self at a red light on highway 192 in Saint Cloud, just outside of Orlando, a Porsche Panamera on my left and a JDM Silvia on my right. The light turned green and the Porsche stomped on it, kinda surprising me, while I did a moderate launch (initially half throttle and 2 or 3 grand with a lot of slip, while simultaneously easing the clutch out further while rolling on the gas).

At this time the guy in the Silvia must have just woke up in time to see me walking by the Porsche and then out in front. I just barely had the throttle pinned in time to do a perfectly executed clutchless up shift into 2nd, then an immediate pinning of the throttle, with the front tire just skiming the ground, followed by me pulling in the clutch and rolling off the gas, right before redline, about 5 car lengths in front of the Panamera.

Then the next light in front of us turned red and we all came to a stop. I had a nice leisurely stop. Followed by the Porsche screeching to a halt. Then the woooooooooooom pshhhh wooooooom pshhhhh and gurgle sound of a modified turbo SR20. The guy at the Silvia looked at me like, "that shit was tight! My turn!" The Porsche just rolled up his windows and looked straight ahead...

The next light turned green and me and the Sylvia went at it. This time I launched HARD! He didnt put up much of a fight and I wound up granny shifting half way through second... He promptly took the next right exit to the turn pike.

This would have made my day by itself, but all this happened the following day after completion of my bike. After being stuck in pieces at my parents place in St.Cloud for weeks on end with charging issues, awaiting new tires, r/r, stator, vfrness, a good cleaning, coolant flush, and an oil change; i just finished it today.

On my way home, me and my harley buddy pulled up to a gas station. Got off the bikes and some dude looks at us and says, "what is this the maiden voyage?" I thought he was talking to Landon, being that his bike is so covered from fork to tail in LEDs that it looks like it belongs on Star Trek. Landon started talking some shit and then the guy said, "no i mean the crotch rocket." Landon got a little embarrassed, and then I thought to myself, “Yeah I guess it kinda is..."

Davey you need racing lessons bad! His car w/480hp at 3900lbs w/driver is an 8:1 ratio of weight to hp. Your at about 7:1 ratio. You should have cleaned his clocks boy.

Tsk tsk tsk I hide my head in shape... oh woe is me. An Interceptor beat by a car. A foreign car at that. :faint:

OK Well I'll explain a bit....I spoke to the guy and he said the car was tuned to 600hp..

Anyhow...my throttle cable was a little loose and I adjusted it and it made a world of difference...

I would like to try again but I likely won't see him...

FYI...GTR is also a twin turbo

    Thanks

yeah they are fast as shit. were just messing with you. 600 hp and a dual clutch transmission with all wheel drive is almost impossible to go up against as he will get a perfect launch everytime and as with most mortal human beings a perfect launch is a one three type thing...

You forgot AWD and I am glad you agree.

No corvette with the exception of a Lingenfelter can do that.

His launch was like nothing, I have ever seen.

I'm a fan of good old American Detroit muscle myself, but those GTR's are no joke. More techno-gadetry than I care for, but with the traction control and AWD, its basically just punch the gas and it screams.

I just saw this thread...having an 07 VFR (and had an 02 VFR) and a GTR enthusiast, I can tell you the GTR will win the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile every time. With the 2012 GTR the gap widens even more. It's the current fastest production (at least with 500 or more built a year) car in 0-60 and lap time around Nuremberg. I don't remember off hand it's ranking in the 1/4 mile. Bikes vs Cars...bikes usually win..if it was a true sport bike, it may take it in the 1/4 mile. But when you have a stock car that runs 10s (low 11s conservatively), it is going to be tough...that is in the sport bike range. You won't be able to out shift the car...period. The 2012 is doing 0-60 in 2.9 seconds (3.3s pre 2012) and that isn't even the V-Spec version. It is a beast of a car. I almost added one to my garage this past summer, but decided to wait another year. My friend has a 600+ hp one (little mods I might add) and it was a beast before it was modded. Honestly, I almost didn't by my 07 VFR because of the GTR. Then I thought I needed something to drive on the really really nice days

So in short, there is no shame in getting smoked by a GTR....it's a freaking Supercar  Not unless you are driving a ZR-1 or a Viper ACR and you are racing a pre-2012
