Head Gasket for 1984 VF1000F

Hi Fellas

I'm brand new to the forum and this may have been covered many times, so bear with me...

I'm just in the process of getting my old girl going again. It's been in my garage for 14 years when I stopped riding due to kidlets coming along. It's been well taken care of but needs a new head gasket (oil in the coolant). I'm halfway through taking the engine out but I thought I better start sourcing a gasket set. Can anyone tell me if there are reliable suppliers that still have any or are they scarce as hen's teeth?

Well you wouldn't believe this. I popped in to my local Honda dealer just to see if they knew where I might be able to pick up a head gasket locally and they still stock the part! Couldn't believe it! It will be here by Friday. Hey VFRhusband looks like you're a gunny as well as a bike guy; my two favourite pastimes!

 

Did they check warehouse inventory? The Honda system works weird, hopefully you will actually get the part!

Yep, I guess that I've fallen into the "I've got one on order" trap too many times. It sounds like you've done as much as you can, hopefully it will work out.
