    Could be. Some of the parts are already Chinese and Japanese. BTW. HD had thier fingers in the Sushi in Japan in the 1920 when they sold the Japanese tooling for Harleys. The Ruskies did knockoffs of pushrod aircooled BMWs, then the Chinese did knockoff of the Russkie rigs.

    Steve McQueen did his great escape over the stalag fence on a stolen german "Triumph". Never did figure out how they did that..

    ... and I do know about Royal Enfield thumpers..

    Well, why didn't you say so before. Everyone knows that when Anoop Prakash says something it's the real McCoy.

    When I was in Saudi, the Indians operated all their shops. Not talking about Battle of Wounded Knee injuns either.

    I guess I have a way with them because they always offered me "special deal just for your GI"

    I would buy a curried goat dinner from Anoop Prakash but not a Harley that he wrenched on. btw I lovingly refer to the enfields as Royal Oilfields.

    I fail to understand your point. Many manufacturers of large products build kits for final assembly in the market where they are consumed. I know of several manufacturers if industrial saws who build in Asia and do 35% of final assembly in the US so they can stamp a flag on the side and call it made in the USA. How many Harleys do you think the Indian market would purchase if those folks making $30/day or some shit had to pay American wages, freight across the ocean, and whatever import duties India is likely to charge?

    I say good for Harley finding an outlet for a product that allows them to continue to employ people in Wisconsin.

    I bet the machinists are smiling too since unemployment in Milwaukee was at 10.5% in March of this year. A little added job security should make for a nice Christmas for a few folks in Wisconsin. While Polaris is shutting down it's engine plant and moving it to Mexico.

    I'm glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that... :laugh: Good one, Billy!

    What I liked was;

    "I've always wanted a Harley when I was growing up. I had little posters on my wall. I remember seeing Harley-Davidson and the Marlborough man, remember the old movies. It made people look so cool, so I thought why not?"

    That's why I ride! :smile:
