Hi! I bought a VFR with a Givi Wingrack mounted on it. I would like to remove the wingrack considering I do not own any bags and am not going to use them (yet) anyways. Does anyone here have a manual or directions on how to remove the rack from the bike? Thank you very much!
I just put one on my 2000, to replace the non-Wingrack that was on there when one of the welds broke. Instructions below are based on the '98-01. Other years may vary some, thought I doubt by too much. 1. Remove the seat. 2. Remove the 4 bolts at the back of the seat cavity - 2 on each side. If you've got the original grab rails, these bolt in here. When you're removing the bolts, don't drop the washers down into the bodywork - you'll have a hell of a time finding them again. 3. Unbolt the struts from the passenger footpegs. 4. Lift up and back - the whole thing should just come off. There are various fasteners on the Wingrack itself as well, hidden under caps. You can break it down for easier storage by removing these bolts. If you end up reinstalling it, loosening these bolts will make it easier to line everything up.
