    Good day all..
I am trying to decide on which machine I Should by..

I have an option of either - A 2002 VFR ABS with 18,000 km for $6000CND
    or a 2005 with 11000 KM NON ABS - for $6,800CND
Both are in good condition - with no accidents are are both stock.. -

Hard call if the newer bike with lower miles or the older bike with ABS.....

    Any help would be appreciated.

really up to you and if you want the ABS, I myself would stay with the LBS brakes and would go for the 2005.
weather in Canada being what it is you might want the ABS.

Cant go wrong w/ either bike really

I would go with the ABS as the linked brakes are nice and all, but their no ABS. I think ABS has the potential to save your ass many more times than linked brakes do.

Fellas, they both have linked brakes, just depends on wether they have ABS also. Go for the 02 man, waaaaay more bang for your buck IMO. Three years and such a slight mileage difference isn't worth the extra money, plus the ABS is a $1000 (USD) option when new, so you're really saving like $1800!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck whatever you decide and :welcome:

There were no major differences between these model years and the 7k difference in mileage is insignifant with these long lasting reliable engines so you are essentially buying the same bike other than the fact that one has ABS and one doesn't. At the prices you mentioned I would definately go for the ABS assuming they are in similar cosmetic and physical condition. Also keep in mind that both these bikes were affected by a wiring harness recall so make sure to check the VIN with a dealership to make sure it was done.

+ 1 to many of the comments above. For $800 you can have a newer bike with less miles or you can have ABS which on the 6th gen has a remote for rear shock adjustment. Then again i think there is some extra weight there too. I would have to say they are dead even in value. The wire harness to the rectifier will or should be looked into and or fixed when you get it. Thing to Keep in mind are chain condition and you should consider sticking new rubber on either one so you know what you are riding on. Otherwise I think they are basically and even steven swap and up to you if you want ABS or not. Either will do well.

All is my opinion of course.

    Thanks guys...

One last question - Did all the VFRs come with the VFR sticker on upper fairing?
The one I am looking at doesnt have it...
Looking around the web - I notice some do and some dont. Just questioning it has been in an accident...

The one with the ABS "fell over in the driveway" some small scratches.. but not really noticeable.

The other is missing the VFR sticker - has something else in place....

As a fellow Canuck I would suggest importing a bike from the U.S. I'm not sure how far you are from the border but I imported an '06 (no ABS) with 10k kms for $5,600 this past spring. The 06's have fewer electrical issues and the vtec kicks in at lower RPM. The savings can be considerable and the paperwork is not difficult. There are many VFR's available in the U.S. while the Canadian used market is very limited. If you work through good members on forums like this or VFRDiscussion, you'll have a chance to find something really good.

The absence of the VFR sticker MAY indicate that it is a US model. Does it have an "Interceptor" sticker on the rear cowl? If so then it could be the US model, check the VIN plate to make sure. It could be someone just took it off. Plus I'm not sure if the Canadian models follow or the European models with the addition of the VFR sticker and no Interceptor sticker. Please confirm this Canucks!
