Hi I am a new member from South Africa and ride a 2000 VFR 800 F1. The problem that I have is that once the bike is warm and pulling away or riding at slow speeds in 1st or 2nd gear the engine is running very uneven and sounds as if it is misfiring and surging. I have replaced the spark plugs and plug leads and cleaned out the fuel filter and still no better. I would appreciate it if anybody who has heard of such a problem and who has a solution can please post some info for me:confused:

at what RPM range is this happening?
On my 6th gen I removed the pair valves and emissions can and it smoothed out.
also maybe a starter valve sync is needed???

It happens as you pull away so at low revs and then gets better as the revs climb and is smooth when cruising at higher speeds. There is a definate feeling that she wants to cut out and then the revs pick up

what year bike???? you can do the 02 delete and use resistors, that helps a bit as well as a higher fuel pressur regulator.
I got a chip that uses the 02 sensors and AIT to dump more fuel into the system but I also found that the removal of the pair valves and emissions crud helped alot.

Thanks very much it is a 2000 model. Can you tell me what resistors you used on the O2 system?

that is what I used, they call it snake oil here, I got it to compair w/ a power commander on a dare and was surprised that it does work and give the same as the PC3 for way less.
let me know if you need anything else. oh I should note the chip uses the 02 sensors and does what the regulator would do.

Hi there. I would just like to say thanks as I have carried out the O2 mod by fitting the 330 Ohm resistors and the bike is very much better but not quite right yet so am now going to do the PAIR mod by disconnecting the pipe work and blanking everything off with rubber grommets. I will let you know what the outcome is. Regards.
