Relatively new to this riding style and every time I brake I slide forward. No matter how tightly I squeeze my knees, I slide. I have a stock seat. What do you guys do to prevent this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are multiple options available to more firmly plant yer bum in the correct seating position. The best and most correct way is of course squeezing the tank for all you're worth with your knees. The tank is a bit slippery though, of which there are also multiple options. I wanna get me a set of these
Motorcycle Tank Pads from TechSpec-USA - Honda Gripster Sport

There's also Stomp Grips but I hear they tear up clothing more quickly Stomp Design Online | HONDA

And there's also Triboseat if you don't wanna stick anything on your tank

I've heard of people cutting a piece of that non-slip material that you use under rugs in your house, cabinets, etc. I have no idea if it works, I'm just sayin...

I just don't remember that issue on my stock seat. The cover on the stock is pretty tacky. I had That problem when I first got my Sargent and it took about three weeks before it stopped. Now i never notice it.

I'm always there anyway....it has to do with how you're riding. Some people ride the front end like a unicycle, which is what most aggresive riders do. go to a trackriding school and they will tell you that very same thing. The ones that ride the rear tire are relaxing. Scoot your ass up closer to the tank and get your bean out by the mirror, it might help your cornering and also your suspension will show you a little more responsiveness. Those tires are talkin' to ya, but you gotta be able to hear them.

Ride with the balls of your feet on the pegs and if you gota do a hail mary stop just use the strength of your arms to keep you from sliding forward. My Gen 3 bike seats like a standard, pretty up-right seating position. I still get my pet monkey squished though, its just the way it is. Cheers

I don't want to slam you, but I believe that this is terrible advice. If your arms are working to locate your body, your ability to steer is at best impaired and at worst eliminated.

As an alternative: get used to using your core muscles to locate your body; keep your elbows bent; your hands relaxed and you will be able to brake, steer and go where you want.

Geez,,,Its like trying to describe an orgasm to an alien trying to tell someone how you dont slide forward during hard braking. I know I used to beat people on the race track by out braking em and I only got about 200,000 street miles. So, Yeh I dont know chit right? Squeeze the brake lever like the trigger of a gun steady pressure is a gud analogy and stay calm and focused.

There is nothing at all wrong with a constant tank hugging. There are too many positives to list, but at the minimum; you'll stop sliding under braking and should learn some good riding technique as an unintended result.

Not an issue for me. The sheepskin may help, I guess, but I don't ride hard enough to notice.
