is there a way to check the fuel pump on my 84 vf700?

there is no power to the connector when the key is in the on position or when trying to crank...

there is however power to the 3 pin "relay" that wires gotot before the fuel pump... 2 of those have power but the one heading from it to the pump have none...

is there a fuse somewhere or what am i missing?

basically the bike acted up the other day so i changed the fuel filter, the gas, checked plugs and all and it wont fire up...

i couldnt even get fuel into the inline filter until i disconnected it from the pump and let it fill then stuck it back up there...

any ideas because im drawing a blank

is the fuel pump 12volt? if so can i just wire it on a relay to come on when you switch the ignition on?

Don't know if you can rewire but you can test with 2 small gauge wires by putting them in the plug in and touching any 12 volt battery you should hear or feel it vibrate. If you do need another pump you should be able to find one on E bay the vf750c /saber will work.
also check spark in both front cylinders the cdi unit w/red plug also controls fuel pump and spark to one side of motor I don't remember which. let us know how you do.
    P.s check fusses

The fuses are under the cover for the key switch , a bit rusty on my gen 1 these days but am pretty sure that is where they live.

You know, it's possible to just remove the pump all together. That's what I do with all of my VF's. Pretty much as soon as I buy them I ditch the fuel pump and convert to gravity feed. The pumps and relays are known to fail, since it's not needed for proper operation you are money ahead to eliminate it from the system.

    I hope this helps!

If its not needed i will probably just "bypass" it and try that first....

and good to know where the fuses are for future reference...

    thanks guys

no spark on either front cylinder and they both go into the same coil, so im guessing thats why the fuel pump isnt kicking on

EDIT: swapped the coild and still only firing on the 2 rear cylinders

I would check all leads to that coil for power if leads are good have coil checked out.
Coil/s do not run fuel pump.
