well i was bypassing my fuel pump and ran into a problem after that... (84 vf700f btw)

when to start the bike and the starter button got stuck on and fried the button/switch...

i can like without the correct switch on there and am willing to wire a push button somewhere else if someone can explain the wiring to me...

there are 4 wires going to the switch...

    from checking them i have

    a larger solid black +12v
a black with red line +12v
a yellow with red line starter switch

the blue with while line i have no idea...

and why the 2 +12v lines

can someone tell me what needs to go where to start the bike so i can wire in my own push button starter please

Upgrade it to a later gen switch gear, I run a gen 5 . It is a direct replacement, no mod rquired and not worth the effort. Look for gen 3 and up.

I am pretty damn sure (with oot looking it up, at work and no manual with me) it will run with just the key on and jump the starter solenoid to turn it over.

yeah ive got it turning over just connecting the yellow wire to the battery, wont run...

come to find out no spark on either front cylinder so im assuming its the coil they plug into is bad (thus as mention in my other thread why the fuel pump isnt kicking on)

EDIT: swapped the coild and still only firing on the 2 rear cylinders

That is a sign of CDI failure. Your bike has two, each runs two cylinders.

i cant find a manual for this bike and this is the first trouble ive had out of it

found the manual, appears they are under the tail fairing... and they are different so u cant swap them

and black to yellow is start and other black to blue/white is run

FYI on your button. The switch is two position; one position normally closed for lights, and the other normally open for the starter motor relay. The idea is that the lights cut out while cranking so you have maximum available amperage to the starter.

They are under the tail section but are different animals and can't be swapped around.

There is a slim chance I may have one of them in my attic, will try to remember to look when I get home. If I do it is yours.

Yellow/red and Black are normally closed (head light circuit)

Blue/White and Black/Red normally open (start circuit)

my 500 switch broke, I unsoldered everything and soldered the head light wires together, turned the switch on to make sure it was working then soldered 2 short wires to the start wires, ran through the hole where the button was and put a push button on it. looks kinda tacky but I was just trying to get the bike running.
