Possible electrical/mechanical problem...not sure?

I have a 6th gen VFR with 40k+ on it. My question: What does it mean when your hand brake does not trigger your brake light? Mechanically both the foot and the hand brake work and the foot brake triggers the brake light. All the other lights appear to be functioning properly. What's up? Would appreciate any help, Thanks!

 

It's probably the brake light switch mounted by the lever. Either the connections are dirty or the switch isn't working.
