i dont like my mirrors, they move around even after i have tightened them as much as i can. besides that, i also just dont like the look of them, the rubber condom and all that.

are there any gp or race looking mirrors that work well for this bike?
i havent had the vfr for long and this is my 1st faired bike, so im still learning the ins and outs

I'm pretty certain that the mirrors from the 2000 and 2001 VFR will work. The 1998 and 1999 bikes are also 5th Gen VFR's but they use condom style also so stay away from these years when shopping for your 5th gen mirrors.

Want to be boy racer, the mirrors from a BMW R1100S look great. Late model VFR mirrors can be made to work. Want turn signals, how about CBR1000RR opr GSXR mirrors. Almost anything can be made to work, with a little fabbing in either plastic or metal, etc, etc. See VFRD on this.

Personally, I put Blackbird mirrors with signals on with Delrin adapters. Now I have bat wings, but I can see behind me and have built in signals. Reused front signal locations for fresh air intakes.

I thought something looked funny - took me a minute of staring at that pic to notice the inverted forks.

    Very impressive looking bike

    thanks for the replies guys.
safety pro, im not trying to be a boy racer or whatever. since when do mirrors make you faster? if i wanted to go that route, i would have gotten a supersport 600 or liter bike. im maintly going to be commuting to work with this.
also, the blackbird mirrors you posted look great, as do the extra air intakes. do you have any sort of hose connecting the open holes to the air box or is it more for looks?
i'd copy you, but i am famous for my terrible electrical work. i had a shop owner chasing down an electrical problem on my sv and he called me and told me to come down to the shop once he saw the wiring i had done in the rear for the blinkers, tail light, and plate light, lol

rollin, thanks for the reply. i think i'll find some of these mirrors

i spent a lot of time poking around the bike today and i think my project list is getting a lot longer a lot faster.
i dont like the tail so much. i like how it looks, i just want to do it differently. mre like the sv650, i guess. maybe a monster rear end. i havent done any research yet.
i'm also thinking about switching to a different gas tank. maybe a superhawk? does that fit? i dont even know. need to research it. i dont want to have those tabs for the seat showing if i wind up going with a different subframe.

i think if i keep this up, i will eventually have a vfr engine and frame and a frankenbike everywhere else.

wow, thats a pretty damn nice finished product
i dont really care for all of the stickers so much... and the flaming woody head might not go over so well- i work in a jail, the woodpecker is a peckerwood sign... but that really turned out nicely.

i was thinking just now about rear plastic options. i have seen the stunt seats, where there is a braced hole for the rider to put a foot in. i wonder if i could integrate a secure box into such a tail.

i hope i get put in a picket tomorrow, so i can sit around and draw all day. woo hoo. i'm taking my clymer's book to work

here is a mockup i did with a monster tail. the red subframe i drew was originally just a layer i made to kind of sketch something out, but i liked it with the ducati seat and figured that might e a nice way to get people to go 'WTF?!'
im not sure that i have the monster's seat scaled right. the pic of the bike is google sourced, and not my actual vfr, but it is the same color. mine has a shortened can, so i tried to do that in the picture, but i'm using gimp, and trying to learn how to use it at the same time, so... it all looks like crap, lol
    im going to bed
