Ask and you shall receive! LOL! Here ya go (copy pasted from one of my other forums):

    10-9-10

I literally just returned home from a 12 hour round trip from JC, TN to Colonial Heights, VA and back. I picked up a '98 Honda VFR800 that is in desperate need of TLC, but since it is a bike I've always wanted........I snagged it. This thread will be a long/gradual updated thread of bringing this bike back to life. Here a few pics to get it started:

My copilot for this 12 hour journey:

And some shots of the new ride........I have the seat (torn up pretty badly) and the lowers along with the front fender and front turn signals, they are just not mounted in the pics. I'm not even going to unload it till the morning as I'm so tired. Here you have it:

My fiance took the camera with her over the weekend, but in that time I have removed the crappy pairs system, removed the old tires and put new Continental Road Attacks on, pulled off the "custom" undertail in favor of a stock unit, drained the oil and coolant, pulled the old air filter and I'm waiting on my K&N, and today the VFRness and new R/R will be installed. I'm sure I missed a couple things, but it's coming along.

welcome to the forum, and the viffer maddness.

we always like seeing a bike being brought back to its former glory.
you have plenty to time to have her nicely restored for the spring G2G.

i have the factory manual if you need a copy in anything for the bike.

im a ET hillbilly origionally from knox-vegas, and was up there last week on the bike.

PS- at the upcoming G2G, DO NOT go anywhere even NEAR a tent with MiddleTBabb,
we still have yet to be published incriminating pics of that nancy-boy from the fall G2G

as i have been thinking about getting one, but have not hear one live.

Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know if I need anything from the manual. I plan on making the G2G in April.....need to get her sorted LOL!

Yes it is a Delkevic, but the P/O drilled out the rivets and removed ALL of the internals and then riveted it back up. It's a hollow can that will be replaced. I can show you what they sounded like on my old 919 I built a while back (now mind you this was with the baffles in): YouTube - 05 Honda 919 Custom

Another little update...........I got a bit carried away and decided to go crazy with the bike just a bit.....so I removed the front end and the linked braking system along with pulling the engine covers to address the bad gasket work on the stator side along with fix the charging issue on the bike and pulled the clutch cover to clean the surfaces of the case and put a new gasket there as well just to avoid any possible oil misting issues due to the p/o not doing things correctly last time around. I drained the oil and radiator fluid to replace with new fluids (as you should always do when you buy a used bike). You should have seen the sludge that came out of the brake lines :mmph:

    Let her breathe!!!

Welcome aboard. I cant believe the p/O painted over the original paintwork. It looked like a midnight drunken graffiti job.

Looking good so far. These are great bikes and you won't be sorry for all your hard work. FYI, I have a perfect seat for it since I have a Sargent on my 2001.
If your interested, email me at r_nancy@bellsouth.net
