I believe the bike does have something wrong. Could be the engine or worn clutch (tranny) - I really don't know. I am taking the bike back tomorrow to the dealer. I usually only buy low mileage stock bikes and guess I have been lucky. I thought about looking for a Busa or Z1000 and have seen a ZX10 I like, but I still like the VFR better. I may have to check a little further out of State. I would like to upgrade to a 6th Gen VFR and have my R1 to aggressive runs and trackdays.

All you have to do is send it back to Sargent and tell them what you want changed, it really is very simple.

I understand that Emon had no choice, as what it came with was what he got. The only thing I can add is, if you are going to buy a custom seat, ,make sure you know wtf it is you want and have it made that way. If you are unable to communicate exactly what it is you want, then you get what someone else "thinks" you want.

Most people try to find the cheapest f'ing thing they can, or spend cubic dollars thinking that the cost has something to do with the feel you get. Nope, doesn't happen, you get what you want by communicating. Because I was spending close to $500, I made sure to send the dimensions for exactly how I wanted it, no mind reading involved. It's not the manufacturers issue.

Hey NorCal wassup - It is important to be a educated consumer. I am not a full on custom seat user. My preference would be the stock seat with a gel pal - done properly and professionally - I hate lousy or half-assed good enough work. A major advantage of buying a used bike from a person rather than a dealer is most people will give you the old stock parts and other stuff for the bike. Dealers will give you nothing.

I rode back to Andover NJ yesterday and bought the 03 VFR back. I have a really great relationship with the dealership and no problem with the return. They have some nice bikes and two White 06 VFRs and a Black VFR - all too pricey for me. One of the 06 White VFRs has a reshaped Sargent seat and it would be all wrong for me. Sitting on that bike had me humpin the tank lol. Anyway I found an 04 VFR for sale in S. Carolina and an 02 Busa in Iowa I like. Oh yeah both bikes has a stock seats lol. Of course my first choice is the VFR.
