Ok so I bought this bike and its been overheating on me non stop and finally dropped the oil again and theres coolant in the oil i would guess a blown headgasket. How much work am i looking at to replace both head gaskets?

You have to drop the motor to do both head gaskets. The first time I replaced head gaskets i think it took me 6 or 7 hours. Its really not bad if you have any kind of experience; just grab a Honda shop manual and go to town! I used a Clymer manual the first time I did it and i got it done but there are a few errors in the clymer manuals. Good luck! Last time I checked they dicontinued the 500 head gaskets.. might need to hit up ebay

    A few things.

If you are considering selling your bike for parts because a head gasket costs too much etc, get in touch with me.

If you need an engine because that may be cheaper than chasing down the leak, get in touch with me.

If you do buy a head gasket, make sure you use the honda factory manual, and properly tighten everything down, but if you got the engine out on your own I'm sure you will do just fine with the gasket install. It is a bitch getting that engine back in though.

I'm not an expert in head gaskets, but just because you cant see the leak doesn't mean that it isn't there. Did you post an overheating question on another thread? I can't remember if it was you, I replied to it if I remember correctly but can't find it. Most importantly good luck, and get that thing back together before squirly sees this post and takes a dump on us 1st gen owners.
