This is a message to new members and long-time members alike. As you probably know, VFRworld is generally pretty lenient, and we are not quick to discipline or ban users unless they get really out of hand, and we prefer to send a warning first instead of taking a heavy hand. However, there is one rule at VFRworld that won't change, and that's regarding multiple accounts. We believe there is absolutely no reason to have multiple accounts, and our philosophy is that if you feel you need to post under a different username, then you are probably posting something inappropriate in the first place.

There have been several occasions over the years where we have found users to have multiple accounts, and those users have been banned, because that rule is non-negotiable. If you currently have multiple accounts, then we are offering a one-time reprieve for those users who may not have understood this policy. If you PM me to remove any accounts that are not your primary, I will be happy to do that for you with no further action taken.

However, if in the future we do find that members are using multiple accounts, that is the type of situation where we do typically ban, even if you're a long-time, respected member of the site.

If, for some reason, you feel the need to change your username, remember that VFRworld Insiders are able to change their username in the Control Panel. Please note that your historical posts will show your new username.

As I mentioned, we try not to go overboard in terms of disciplinary measures, and we like to be known as a laid back, inviting online forum. However, it's also not the Wild West, and it takes a significant amount of time and dedication for the moderators of the site to keep an eye on things, deal with complaints, etc - which they do voluntarily out of the goodness of their hearts to help us maintain a top-notch VFR community. In appreciation for their commitment, I ask for the respect and honesty of the users of the site, which I see on a daily basis 99.999% of the time.

I do want to, as always, thank the countless members of this site who contribute exceptional information and have helped us build an unprecedented online motorcycle community. I know all of you appreciate the camaraderie and wealth of knowledge that we've accumulated on the site, and we couldn't do it without all of our members.

We appreciate your understanding and compliance with this rule, and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to PM any of the moderators and we'll be happy to answer those questions.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Sorry, you can have my MelGibson user account back, all I was doing was getting into trouble with it anyway.

Well done Michael, your mature and well constructed post is indicative of the excellent attitude that holds members here long after they have left the other VFR forums behind. I have personally abandoned 2 major forums but stayed here because of the maturity of the mods etc.

I hate to say this but with birdseed's constant re-registering and annoyance it's time to make a change to the registration process. TinkeringWStuff mentioned that his local sportbike forum requires registration approval before you can post. Do you think that's a worthwhile idea to pursue?

The original post was not directed at Go4ride type of posting, but it may stop that as well.

I believe Goforide and all of his aliases are exactly what this was about.
He has not listened, though, and continues to annoy us.

I don't remember the registration process here. But the local forum also requires a valid email address for activation. Not like it's tough to sign up for another yahoo account, but it does make for a bigger PITA if an IP address and email address is banned. Having to create new email accounts for every time a banned tool wants to get back in might wear them down a bit.

I only remember the local forum process because they had a server complete meltdown that took out the mirror drives too. They had to do a restore from October 2009 and my account was no longer there.

I believe the idea Tink proposed is a good one....account authorization is a must.I know it will cut down on all the one timers that signup ,cruise the boards then never come back. it may even keep potential "good members" from registering. But this can be blamed on people registering new accounts , up to five (at least ) in one day.

Thank you micheal for your hard work and dedication.

PM sent...(I just read this post)
