I agree with most of what was said regarding the synthetic topic, except for the longer duration comment. It's been proven that synthetics have a life up to 4x's that of conventional oils - depending on the application. Semi trucks, for example, can go 20-25k miles between changes and the newer models with high grade synthetics are nearing the 30k mark with normal degradation.

As for the shearing on the VFR's, I really have no expertise or exposure to that part of it. I do plan to take an oil sample to Canyon State Oil to have it analyzed and see what kind of properties is has after being in the VFR for 5k miles. Will let you know the results.

As I stated in previous posts, Rotella T has been my oil of choice since 2001 in every vehicle I have owned. I was a bit concerned when switching to it on the VFR as the age of the bike and the seals made it likely that the synthetic would find its way through the nooks and crannies in the old seals... but that proved not to be the case.

I've got lots more I could write about it, but I'm out of time and need to haul my butt off to class.

    Till next time........

    Please do.

I've been debating whether I should switch to Rotella T.

Test results would be very welcome, and informative.

Congrats on hitting the 50K mark. The one I'm riding now is at about 57K and the old one in the barn had about 70k on him before I started the engine rebuild that never got completed. Awesome machines, but I agree with Crusty, I would love to have a 07 RWB in the stall for the long trips, an hour on that saddle and I am ready to stick an otterpop in my ass to curb the pain and swelling.:vtr2::vtr2::vtr2:

Congrats on 50k. I run Rotella T6 it's motorcycle rated. I'm doing the wheel upgrade to my VFR700, I just need to find someone here to machine a couple parts to fit the rear. maybe we can hook up and ride, the temps are getting more friendly here.

Thats the part people seem to be missing here. You have to use an oil thats classified as being for motorcycles due to the fact it lubricates the clutch. In fact, many new bike warranties will actually be voided if you fail to use a motorcycle rated lube.
