After 2 sets of dunlop Qualifiers I wanted a tire that lasted longer. BT 21's had a great price and was supposed to last alot longer. Worst tires I have ever put on a bike, tires are totally shreded at 3800k miles, front is totally bald, rear center is gone. Corning grip was scary, I keep feeling the rear start to slide in spirited corning. Confidence killer. Ordered a set of Pilot Roads 2CT's , hopefully these will fair better. Just wanted to let anyone considering BT-21's know my experience on them. Qualifiers were awesome tires, cornered great, lots of grip, just don't last long.
This past winter, I put a new set of the Bridgestone Battlax BT-020 tires on my '07. I've got about 3000 miles on them with no signs of wear yet. I hope they hold up better than yours did. I hope to get the rest of this year and next year out of them.
That is entirely wierd. They are a pretty hard compund actually dual compund. Yours is the first negative complaint i have read. Most people get 8k from a set and do not have slipage issues. I ride the much softer compound bt016s and I get 6k out of them that is with all sorts of riding. I ride HARD most of the time and commute others. Cant imagine what you did to get the longer lasting tire to wear so quick considering qualifiers have a rep for not lasting too long. Now the new bt023 is supposed to be better than the bt021. I have not tried it. The new qualifier 2 is supposed to last longer as well. Not to mention the Q2s should provide better everything than the qualifiers. I tear it up and i get over 5k a set no matter what i ride, mich pp2cts or bt016 both are softer yha. The bt021 dual compound. Also the tire you came from is a sport tire. The st tire bt021 and the new one you ordered are round profile. It is easier to get to tthe edge on a round profile tire. The mich pp2ct is a more triangular tire than the pr2ct. It shoukd be easier to get to the edge on the pr2ct than on the pp2ct or the qualifiers you came off of.
I ride hard, back road romping around but I do not do burnouts or anything like that. I consistently check tire pressure. The BT 21's just could not hold up. It is a pretty hard compound which for me translated into rear tire slippage in corners. Only thing I can think of is "riding hard" is a relative term. I'm just not sure. The qualifiers I used previously I got 3ish k out of the back and 5ish k out of the front, which seems to be what most people get out of them. Hoping the Pilot Road 2 ct's live up to the reviews and hype for me because they are expensive:frown:
