    dear KC10

I find that after riding a full tank of gas out.. when I stop to refuel my testicles are numb. I've tried to rub them to get the feeling back in but have been arrested twice for indecent acts.... the rubbing helps but I can't afford to keep getting thrown in the slammer everytime I ride.. what should I do? BTw the way I ride a gen 2 VFR

    sicerely,
    rubbed wrong in prison

    Sorry to jump in KC.
Where in your foot is the numbness? Top, toes, side etc. Does it start in your toes and gradually get worse? How long does it last? Is it only aggravated by riding on the track? Is it always the same foot?

You are correct Sir. 99.9% of the time, it is better to keep the throttle steady or roll on more throttle. The reason for this has to do with weight transfer & traction reserve. What's the other .01% you ask? Those would be the times when you roll on the gas in loose stuff & the back slides out & then suddenly regains traction. This results in the little thing we call a hi-side. It seems what happened in your case was you hit the gas & the tire flung all the debris out from under the tire with out you sliding out. From what all my dirt bike buddies tell me, when in doubt, hit the gas.

With the truck engine, a rebuilt from Jasper Engines should be no more than $2000 after you give the core back. I am surprised you managed to kill a 350. They normally last longer than the truck there're installed in.

As far as you foot going numb, does it only do this on the track? The first thing I would do is try a different set of boots. It took me 4 months to find race boots that fit my feet. Unfortunately for use big-boned Americans, most of the good boots on the market are made in Europe for skinny European riders. I had to sell my Sidi boots since they killed my toes after about 60 mins of riding. If you don't have this result with the other boots, you have your answer. TCX makes boots that fit my slightly wider than average hoof.

Would I give up riding if I were in your shoes? Not a freaking chance. Riding is the only thing that's kept me sane. I won't stop riding until I physically can't do so any longer.

    1) Stop crowding your boys up against the tank.

    2) Stop exposing yourself in public. See post #28 of this thread.

    3) Relieve the friction of monkey butt and painful butt rash, when you ride, sweat and sit. | Anti Monkey Butt Powder

    4) Start moving around on the bike. Scoot forward a little. Scoot back a little. Scoot to the left a little. Scoot to the right a little. Repeat.

    This thread officially rocks.

I'll post in the appropriate (USA - Southwest) forum as well, but I'm having way too much fun here.

The weather is cooling off nicely, and I figure it's a good time to plan a few trips to Austin City Limits (music festival), and Oktoberfest! Heard of any good Oktoberfest celebrations to hit within say a 6 hour backroads radius of Houston, TX?

Thanks again for all the great responses!

towing capacity for your tahoe is #7,000
    the trailer weighs #1700
    3 sportbikes #1200
for a total of approx. #2900 + a few hundred more for our gear. A far cry for maxing out the tahoe.

    ......im just saying.......

    Dear KC-10 FE:

I'm puzzled. I bought an insulated cooler recently to keep my beer cold while travelling. While reading the instructions, I was astounded to read that it keeps cold items cold, and hot items hot! My question is, how it know?

It knows because when you close the cooler, the invisible gnomes that live in the cooler mix the proper pixie dust with unicorn tears to create the desired temperature reaction. Green pixie dust gets cold & pink pixie dust get warms. Simple as that.

    Dear KC ,
I just signed papers for a new 2008 vfr with abs for 10 000$ was it a wise choice? Well since it's a done deal I'm looking for a disc lock , and a motorcycle cover, what do you recommend?

I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but if you paid $10000 for a 6th Gen, new or otherwise, you paid too much. You can still find new RWB's for $7500.

I've been using Dowco covers for years. I've never worn one out. The one I have now is over 10 years old. The one I had before that was stolen. This is the one I would recommend.
Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus Cover - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore

I use a Kryptonite stapler disc lock. I've had the same one since 1992. Xena makes a disc lock with a built in alarm. They are reasonably priced. All you need to remember is a disc lock is going to do nothing other than deter a casual thief. If a true piece of human scum decides to relieve you of you bike, a disc lock is useless. Only securing it to an completely un-moveable or un-breakable will stop a real thief. Even then, you better use some serious hardware to prevent a real thief. I never use my disc lock any more. You would be better of with a Lo-Jack or paging alarm system.

    Dear kc,
thanks for the reply. The canadian motorcycle market sucks, in the past month the lowest prices I seen where 9000$ for a 2008 new and when I called they had all ready sold them. I'm still pretty happy with the price since it's less then what I would have payed 2 years ago.
I would have one more question what size should the motorcycle cover be , considering I'm going to buy luggage cases?

got several of those kind of six packs around here. i think my injury is related to the crazy riding posture of my track bike which has even more extreme angles than a stock GSXR. In all honesty, I think my track bike days are numbered. It is a lot of fun, but a major HA IMO. I'd rather just jump on my vfr and do the occasional 8/10 blast around my area than load up all that gear, drag a bike to the track, listen to lectures on passing etiquette and such, ride 9 or 10/10 for 20 mins then wait 40 and do it again... Then load up all that gear, drag it all back home, etc. PIA!

Oh yeah, someone asked about the numbness. It's mostly in my big toe and top of my foot, dorsiflexion is possible but limited in comparison to left foot. this most likely indicates nerve compression near the sciatic nerve. Treatment most likely will be getting back to my stretching and exercise, especially something like yoga. if that is unsuccessful, I may go see a surgeon once I have exhausted other avenues. I'll try accupuncture before I consider going under the knife.

As far as the truck goes, I have no idea why it gave up so quickly because as soon as we saw the temp climbing, we turned on the heater and looked for the first opportunity to pull off the side. The temp still wasn't maxed by the time we pulled off, but power was gone and she croaked right there on the side of the road. We waited, refilled the coolant that had boiled off and drove it on up over the hill to the next <quote/unquote> town and waited for rescue. We tried limping on home, but Tori's projection that we wouldn't make it over the grade was correct. That was the last straw when Terri and I attempted to make it up one last steep grade and we had to call the kids for help.

Oh, well. I'm over it now. I don't love it, but sometimes you just deal with whatever you get. Hell I just got my track bike back from Tori's today and couldn't decide if I still want to sell it after seeing it again. It sure is fun to ride. It's a PIA to get a track day all set up and going, etc, but it sure is fun to play Ricky Racer for a day...

Acupuncture is working great for a friend of mine, I have been using an inversion table for a few months, best damn 150 bux I EVER spent. If you can try one out, everyone that has used mine is amazed how it helps.
