Greetings, all! New VFR800 owner in the North Metro Atlanta. I just recently bought a 2002 VFR with just under 7400 miles on the clock before I took possession of it. I am the fourth owner but the other three have taken fine care of it with only a minor blemish from a slow-motion tip-over by the third owner (if he hadn't pointed it out, I'd likely never have found it) but otherwise nearly mint. It even had the original D204F with 2001 date code on it when I bought it! Of course, it was badly cupped and about at the end of its life. Made for an interesting ride home. :twitch:

Here's a photo of it prior to its trip to the shop for the 8000 mile service, new tires (anybody else running Continental Road Attacks on a Gen 6 VFR?), and a couple of recall services, including replacement of the wire harness.

Not sure how long I will technically remain "2V4s" since I really can't justify having two machines, but I anticipate that the VFR will be the one I keep.

Wow. An 8 year old bike with only 7400 miles. And you are the fourth owner to boot. The bike has spent more time waiting to be re-registered than being ridden. You must change that. Welcome to the clinic for the scooterhooteritis.

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome, everybody! :peace: By all means I'd like to hook up with some of the local Viffers after I get comfortable with the bike. One of my co-workers bought a Gen 6 VFR right after I did, having had a Gen 5 bike for many years, so there are going to be two VFRs side by side at work in the near future.

The VFR is quite a change from the Magna I started on. I am going to have to get used to having actual, working brakes and not scraping metal on the ground because I dared to change direction.

Oh, I'm surrounded by herds of Harley riders, too, although I only know one guy who dresses up to play pirate. I have to admit, though, that he likes the looks of the Interceptor, so it's not like it's a matter of casting pearls before Hawgs.

Actually, I bought mine from a guy in Newnan. I did not go out with the objective of buying an Interceptor. I had originally gone out to look at a Blackbird but the 'Bird had not been maintained well (unlike the Craigslist description) and was generally ready to be parted out. The riding position was too severe as well for me and seemed like it could become a real issue for maintaining control. By contrast, the VFR (also a Craigslist ad) was very clean, with only the tiny wear I would expect on a seven year-old garage queen. The VFR was obviously in better running condition, and the asking price was actually less. The ergonomics definitely were better for me on the VFR, and even though the bikes weigh roughly the same, the VFR seems to carry it a little better. My first ride on it was an eight-mile test ride, and my second ride was a backroads hop of about 110 miles from Newnan to East Cobb after I bought it.

2V4s, welcome to the maddness that is VFR.

my 1st streetbike was a magna many moons ago.
    then a CBR, NightHawk-S, Hawk-650, etc, all.
then finally the VFR sealed the deal for me.

im in kennesaw near KSU, and like to meet up with the ATL guys anytime.
i will be hitting the N-GA mtns a few times soon now that cooler weather is here.

i just returned from the VFR fall G2G in NC last week,
and its a blast hanging out with like minded VFR guys.

Welcome 2V4s!!! I'm a fairly new VFR owner myself (May '10.) Next thing you need to look at are the upgrades/accessories! I was lucky w/mine. First/prev owner put on Staintune (awesome sound,) Scorpion alarm, PC-III and had it fitted w/Saddle Bags. He had a Sargent seat too, but I opted not to go for it. Wish I had though now, but I spent that money on my new Shoei helmet!!!

That's a great looking bike. I've had mine since August and I wasn't looking for a VFR either, I was looking for a CBR RR when I found my bike. I'm in for service since I've logged so many miles so far but we should get some guys together (easy/imtermediate skill) and do some riding.

Just met MTLovesST today. :yo: I had just gone to lunch at a Taco Bell on Sugarloaf Parkway and saw a really sharp-looking red Gen 6 in the parking lot. I got my tripe-to-go from the Taco Bell trough as quick as I could so as to have a closer look when Mike happened to walk up. We chatted for a bit about VFR World and some of the various group rides. Heck of a nice guy! Too bad I'm having rear brake issues with mine or there would have been two in the parking lot.

Actually, I work with another VFRW member, FDBGT. How many VFRs do we have to have in the office parking lot before we can call it an Interceptor Wing?:biggrin1:
