I'm so done with the Shadow ACE 750. We picked it up almost a year ago and I've put on about 7500 miles. The thing is a sharp looking bike, sounds and runs great, but it's the most uncomfortable thing after 100 miles. We put a Mustang seat on it which helped enormously but it still just doesn't cut the mustard.

Last night we did 180 miles with the wife riding pylon. Went up to Estes Park for dinner at 9pm and then rode Trail Ridge Road at Midnight under the nearly full moon. The elk are in rut and we saw a couple huge bulls. We were virtually the only ones there which is a stark contrast to today which was "free day" and the place is a parking lot.

Rocky Mountain National Park is amazingly beautiful during the day. But alone at night, talk about feeling insignificant. The huge mountains looming in the distance illuminated by the moonlight, the huge drop-off cliffs alongside the road, and the gusty winds ready to blow you off the mountain never to be seen or heard from again...

Anyway, the park was awesome. But our ass and back can't take any more of the Shadow. Wife thinks I should find a crashed Wing and do another restoration like the VFR. Not sure if my patience can handle another project of that size any time soon.

I can't ride any cruiser for any length of time. I've never been comfortable on one as they kill my lower back. I much prefer to be slightly leaned over and if you're like me, a wing probably wouldn't be that much better, except for the cushy seat. Not to mention rebuilding a wrecked wing doesn't sound like a picnic to me.

I had a shadow 750 ACE as my first bike. Great bike, and I do still miss it from time to time, but after 30min with the stock seat, i was ready to call it a day. Kinda sad.

Maybe a bmw tourer for a slightly more athletic stance compared to a wing. One of the RT models might fit the bill.

Wife liked the BMW tourer but I'm worried about the cost of parts. It's more than the seat on the Shadow, as I said, I picked up a Mustang which helped a lot. The bike is plenty fun for a quick run across town or to softball and back. It's just not good for riding all day. Besides how I fit on the bike, there's the vibration of a small V-twin solid mounted on the frame that begins to wear a person down after a while. Especially at highway speeds.
