Thinking about removing the left passenger footpeg bracket off my 86 VFR. Have the solo cowl mounted, and the bracket looks out of place. Any ideas where to cut? I figure a Dremel tool cutoff wheel wil do the trick? Cant remove the right side bracket since it supports the exhaust cannister.
There are alot of options on the solo seat set up. I dont think I'd remove one side and not another. I'f you can weld up or some way fabricate a simple bracket for the pipe side, i say go for it. If it is useless weight, dump it. i dummped the entire stock tail & forks on her gen 3. No passenger seat or pegs anymore.
you could just remove the pegs....you ever going to carry a passenger? you may want to just leave it on.. but if you must remove it . I would cut it right at the framemake it clean and painless
The deed has been done. It ain't pretty, but it works. While the sparks from the Dremel cut-off wheel were flying, I began thinking how countless thousands others have done this exact same thing over the past 25 years, mostly back during the Dark Ages (pre-internet era). The right side is an alltogether different issue because the bracket is supporting the exhaust cannister. I have some aluminum strip stock laying around that I could fashion into a replacement. But it would not have any side stiffness and minimal vibration damping compared to the original bracket. Hmmm... Oh, just a quick edit to say that no, I didnt remove the rear wheel/chainguard for doing this job! I took them off because Im getting a new tire mounted today.
