I'm in need of a new chain, any input would be appreciated. It is still a stock and I can't remember what size it is. I'm thinking it's a 520 but I'm not sure [530?] I would like the best bang for my buck, so I need an o-ring type so it lasts. Thank's Peter..

stock is 530, 520 conversion is good to if you want to do sprockets - it's generally good practice to change the chain and sprockets together

Don't go with an "OEM", they'll in most cases just be an O-ring D.I.D. or RK. O-rings are essentially outdated and only still supplied to the manufacturers, so you're paying more for an inferior product vs what these same two companies have on the shelves. Go with an X-ring D.I.D. or RK it will last longer and will probably be cheaper.

I guess my main question is what is the stock size, I think it i a 520 but I would like confirmation before I order something.

As Betarace stated it's a 530 and according to Bikebandit it should be between 102 and 120 links. But you could swap to a 520 if you wanted to get the sprockets to match.

I've gone about 24,000 miles on my steel 530 stock chain and sprockets. Here's my take: if I buy a 520 kit I save about $13.00. With that I also save weight. I doubt very much that I will observe any performance gain based on this weight savings. What I reckon I will observe, is me changing my sprockets and chains at 18,000-20,000 miles. So, on one hand we save money, on the other hand I have to change sprockets soon. I think I'll spend an extra $13 and put off my maintenance interval a little farther.

Thank's for the info, I think that my confusion is that my buddy's chain is a 630, so I knew that mine is the next size down. It doesn't help that I'm not at home so I can't just go have a look.

530 is stock. I recently bought / installed an 'RK Racing' chain/sprocket combo for about $200.
