running in my new vfr

    hi just got an 09 vfr800 only got 180 miles on the clock ,looking in the manual it says not to rev the bike high and take it easy for the first 300 miles so i have kept under 5000 revs and got 450 miles on the clock any advice on wen to let the vtec come in at 7000 revs thanks.

    sheeeesh. The rings are most likely already seated when the kid took it out of the box and did the dealer set up by revving the snot out of it. I say just ride it like you normally do. Like: Rev bike freely, we are not talking about ringing its neck mind you. Don't lug the motor in too high a gear, (snick down if you need more power or going up a grade). Change your oil and filter maybe three times before you hit 1000 miles. Thats about it I guess. Think about this for a second, you go out and buy a new chain saw, how do you break it in? Do you go out and cut twigs? Or do you fell some big arse tree that just fell into your backyard? Cheers enjoy ur new bikie...

    That made me laugh outloud--perfect analogy. That's just what we did this past spring when we lost big tree. Bought a saw, started it up and just started cutting the daylights out of the tree.
