Got pulled over today after passing two cars at 75mph in a 35mph zone in Chester County PA today. Thankfully, the policeman was also a rider, he has a CBR1000. He didn't give me a ticket and just wanted to see what blew past him and put on a show for the people I passed(they honked as they passed us!). He couldn't believe my VFR was a '90 and he loved it. Goes to show cops are people too! Thanks going out to E. Brandywine PD for the break and for his service!

Were you coming back from the Ephrata breakfast ride? 222 was full of cops and speed traps today. saw one harley pulled over with about a dozen of his buddies 1/8 mile up the road looking back with smiles on their faces. Alll the cagers were driving like complete D-bags, more than typical possibly because of the fantastic weather. Glad your traffic stop was a positive one!

I was just out riding with some buddies in the lower Chester County and Lancaster County areas. Lots of nice riding out there. I was wondering where all the hogs were headed.

A few months ago, I did a stop on a kid on a Gixxer 750. He got one hell of a launch from a stop light westbound and I was rolling east bound just cresting a hill. He was shifting into 3rd when I clocked him at 92mph in a 55. He saw me now and got out of it and was breaking hard. I turned and stopped him. He was in a panic. I told him to relax and thankied him for stopping. I would not have even tried to give chase, thats how people get hurt. He told me he was stuck behind a bunch of cagers for the the last 10 miles doing 10mph under and he just had to light it up. I told him first, THANKS FOR STOPPING, second I complemented his ATGATT and third, asked him not to do that crap at nite out in this part of the county because I don't wanna be the guy dirrecting traffic around his wreaked bike after he hits a deer. Told him to ride safe and let him go after I ran his ID.
I understand the retard factor that horsepower bring out (trust me). I allmost never tag motorcyclists. My rule is it's a warning and it's up to you to talk me into writing you by being a dick.
Me and two other cars did run down a Squid on an R1 acting like an ass. Just a stuipid, unsafe, moron of a kid. Tagged him for his speed (140 by one cars account), not wearing a lid as a learning permit rider (or long pants, jacket or gloves for that matter), reckless operation of a motor vehicle, impounded his Yammi, and made his mom pick him up at the post after we gave him a court date. He probably would have ran but his Oakley's flew off his and bounced off my cruiser.
The above is my deffinition of "being a dick".

140mph without gear on public roads?

I'll agree with hubby that the kid was stupid, moron, and a dick. Sign me up for having something in common too and I'll go on record saying you're a putz.

I've always kind of wondered how the cops that've pulled me over think. I've never been given a real hard time by them about the offence and I've never been rude to an officer, I've never run, never will run and have absolutely no interest in running, but I always get a stern lecture about running. I'm 29 so still a kid in plenty of peoples eyes, so maybe that's it. They always tell me how dangerous running from them would be and how they had my plate number down before they turned on their lights so they would've had me anyway, and on and on about how irresponsible and dangerous it is. It's almost as if they were expecting to have to chase me and are now disappointed that I didn't give them the chance. I'm not sure disappointed is the right word, but it's as if the thought stirred up a bunch of adrenaline for which there is now no outlet so it goes into said lecture. I've always left with the feeling that I was pulled over for running, despite the fact that I never did.

Two of the three times I've been pulled over on my Ducati Monster were't even for moving violations (both for obstructed plate in the same week. Fixed it later that week) the last was for speeding on the freeway.

Don't sweat the small stuff, Mysta2. Alot of patrol guys can be rude to bikers. been that way long before you or I were on two wheels. Alot of the stops that are made on bike, especially sport bikes is because of some sort of public out cry. Old lady walking her dog and it gets spooked by a 'Busa running a set of stubby pipes, it bits the kid next store, other assorted mass hysteria like that. She calls the Mayor, raises a big stink about him not getting re-elected. Mayor calls the cheif and complains that his lazy cops are allowing hooligans to scare little old ladies, tourture small animals and hurt little kids. Cheif goes to his guys and tells them to go make nickle and dime traffic stops on bikes or they are on eternal midnite weekend shift for the rest of their life. Patrol guys go look for reasons to stop a bike. Nature of the job. Same thing goes on with guys with lifted 4x4's and has been done to hot rodders since some kid made the first T-Bucket and started burning tires.
On the running thing, bad idea to ever do it BUT... Most Departments in America have a NO PURSUIT POLICY when it come to motorcycles. If it is a traffic offence, they get the best id they can on the bike and rider, set up cars in the area and see if they get lucky. Most of the time the bike is long gone. Sometimes they get seen and busted.... But now it's a felony. My department does not chase, we will pull up if we can, and signal the rider to stop, after that we back off if they lite it up. To many bad things can happin if a Crown Vic cruiser is trying to catch a motorcycle, sport bike or not. Now you might get some cop who just has a brain fart and trys to do just that. It's not smart or safe to try. We got a ton of tricks that we can use other than a case. The only time the case is on is if we have reason to beleive that the subject running is likely to go commit crimes of violence. So, barring Micheal Myers or some serial killer psyco on a Gixxer.... you wont see a chase over 80mph and it wount be pressed for long before it is ordered terminated.

Yup, that's the reality , at least here in the west. I recently got flagged down by 4 LEO's running a 'enforcement zone'-they got me at 10 over. I pulled over where they pointed, shut it down and got off, doffed my helmet and 2 of 'em did a double take at the little 57 year old guy with the graying hair. One of 'em ran my stuff, came back and said, "Take it easy, Sir it's a residential area." Said I was sorry and left with no ticket. I wasn't being an idiot and I think they were looking for drunks, people with warrents, stuff like that. They have a tough job and i don't want to make it any tougher.

this side of the border the OPP will chase. some other depts won't but the OPP will chase you right into the next province if they have to (if they haven't spiked or rammed you). recently there was a passenger killed when she fell off the back of a bike being chased (that's a whole different conversation and the people that should be hanged are many including the rider in control of the bike) so maybe the chase policy might change. the rider hasn't been caught yet and at this point i figure the police may take whom ever is convenient with out an alibi. I know people that run regularly, but they have the bikes to do it (litre super sports) and with the stunting law where they impound your bike at the side of the road for various offenses (too many lane changes, going too fast, wheelie standing up on your pegs to stretch/ride over obstacles or the cop having a bad day) we have more people running (I know a few that before would have stopped for the ticket no it's like they have nothing to lose). me, i havn't the experience, the equipment (my 91 vfr is too slow) or the death wish to try running. track days are much nicer, the people chasing you won't take your bike.

Some very interesting views. Here in SA the traffic cops (hope that term doesn't offend anyone) are usually out in force on Sundays as a lot of bikers here only have car licenses. My experiences have been good though as i've been let off with warnings twice (for other violations, on weekdays) so I can't complain. I would never run, don't know how far the guys here would take thier "shoot to kill" policy.

Congrats on the "no ticket". I have not been pulled over yet thankfully but I'm sure its just a matter of time. I would never consider running, not worth my life or someone elses concience. I have always tried to be curtious to police officers (except once when I was about 18 and it was bogus), I must admit though that I hate paying a ticket and I often wonder how much of the ticketing is due to revenue generation.

I must say that I totally disagree with OLIVERTWISTED'S QUOTE "You just called this kid a squid, stuipid(whatever that is), unsafe, and a moron? And he's the dick?
Sounds like you guys have alot in common."
Read the post, LEARNERS PERMIT, no atgatt, going 140 with a learners permit? .... the officers may have saved this kids life by haveing his mother pick him up. I'd say "THANKS" as a parent if this was my son or daughter.
