Hi all and thanks for the warm welcomes I have received to the site.
I have on order Givi v35's and the new PLXR 166 mounting rack. The "R" stands for removable (the actual mounting racks that is) with a special included Givi key. About a $60 premium over the standard PLX 166 mount and leaves only a couple small connection points visible. I went with these over the OEM both for the $300 savings but more for the removability that the OEM mounts don't have.
Has anyone installed this new "R" mounting rack and do you have any installation tips for me.

Yes, Take your time. GIVI makes great products but their directions are usually hideous: butchered English combined with the muddiest B&W pics you can imagine. I keep buying them, though, and swearing through each install. A pain but you'll be glad you got them.

Thanks, I'll take my time and see about posting some pics of the install when they arrive.

I've ordered GIVI products 3 different times from RL Motorcycles in Georgia,a family-run business. They have a flat $9.95 shipping fee AND their products are priced the same as the other online outfits. Very friendly and helpful; when you call you talk to the owner or his son.

Up here in Canada, it appears the distributorship is controled by one company-
    IMPORTATIONS THIBAULT LTD
    165, Sauvé Street
    Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada
    J1L 1L6

    Tel. : 819.569.6212
    Fax. : 819.563.8058

They ship to all dealers across the country. For pricing, my dealer, Burlington Cycle gave me 15% of the list at Thibault. I found this just as good as any US dealer when you take into account shipping, exchange rate and broker/duty fees. go to GIVI.CA to have a look.

BTW Netviking, The new style brackets (PLXR166) have been on back order for a while but are arriving at Thibault next week. They work on our VFR800's with the V35 Cases.

Does anyone know if this kit finally get the racks and bags closer to the bike or is it
still as far as with the old kit ?

Im trying to decide wich one to go with , OEM with wich i really like how close it put the rack and bag to the bike but i dont really love the looks of the OEM bags or the GIvi Plxr with V35 cases , with this one i really like the cases themself but not how far the rack end up from the bike ...

    PLXR and Givi V35's

The cases are quite close to the bike with the PLXR mounting system. I'm happy with their look and no trouble with the installation.
Better cases and a lot less costly than the OEM's. The Honda OEM's might take it by a hair on looks and if you want a perfect color match.
