Hello and :welcome: to the madness that is VFRW. More information such as the year of bike and pics are mandatory for any repair questions round here. :worthless:

I'd say keep it gassed up and ride it. What he doesn't know about the mileage won't hurt him...

Just kidding, of course. Like Metallican525 said, knowing the year will probably find somebody who can help.

Fuses? They can be a pain to get at. There are two panels for the 6th gen. One you have to remove the instrument side panel to access. I think it is the throttle side. Oh Welcome. If you don't post pix, we are going to tell sonny boy you broke his ride.

oo oo don't tell the lad, see it was broken when he left it so he doesn't know the mileage anyway. The year is 1998 and it is a VFR800F Interceptor. Now I'm gonna find the camera and take some pictures.....today..........promise

Did the mileage and fuel gauge stop working when it was put down on the left?

Do the spedo and tach work? Do all the lights work?

Just checking since all of these thing are on the same circuit, if they're all out, it probably a fuze.

No my lad dropped it on the ice last winter, but the digital display stopped working about a month ago. The speedo and rev counter are working fine as are the lights.

Well, if all the fuses check good I'd say the LCD display crapped out on you

I'm with Metallican. Looks to me like the whole display is toasted.

The only thing I can think of is to find the connectors that go to the display and unplug them, then plug them back in. I have no idea how the whole mess talks to each other, with regard to the sensors and display, but dirty contacts can do bizarre things. The only flaw I can think of in my reasoning is that the speedometer is working, which would infer that the odometer should also work.

    Any news,, same problem

So i got the same issue for last 2 months,, 1998 vfr800.. 56,000 miles....

digital display will switch off for a day or two and when it comes back on,, the clock and trip displays have re set...

battery seems fine,, as do fuses and connections.. Ive read it may be a sign of the R/R... but I cant find any straight answers or solutions anywhere.. anyone know what it really is?

i called a bike mechanic who said to me " i bet its done 50,000 miles" i said.. "yip" he said... " its starting to die,, get rid of it!" i said... " :frown:

sureley it cant be,, my bike got full service history and runs really nice! Thought these things would easy get to 100,000.... But I know the electrics are known to be bad,,, any idea's,, i really dont want to sell it but he has put the fear inside me..

    ta la's
