Here are a couple pics of the RAM mount I use for my iPhone (Navagation) and a waterproof video camera. Just took a 500 mile trip and both worked great. If you have an iPhone you may want to check out the MSN app that logs your route on a map as well as speed, acceleration (pos and neg) for the entire trip. The data in the picture is actually from a ride in my car. Don't know how many G's the VFR will show as yet. IMG_0049.jpg IMG_0048.jpg IMG_0036.jpg

The iPhone is powered by a waterproof USB port that I mounted in the fairing.

Thanks for the pics. I assume you're using the RAM 'stem mount' as well?? How difficult was it to wire everything up? Your set-up looks pretty clean!

It is a RAM stem mount. The wiring was easy. I have a cable connected to the battery for a battery tender. I can either connect to the battery tender or to a cigarette lighter socket via the same connector. In the cigarette socket is a a small USB charger. I use a 1A charger since the GPS on an iphone take alot of current when used for navigation and a regular 500mA or 700mA charger has a hard time keeping up.

I them plug a USB marine type cable with waterproof USB socket (shown) to the USB charger. The wire routes along the frame rail under the plastic. The USB socket mounts in the black plastic where it does not interfere with the steering or the airflow that enters the fairing and through the tunnel adjacent to the forks.

If you need more pictures of the arrangement under the seat and sources for the parts let me know.

Do you know the part number for that Ram mount? I am looking at their site and they've yet to list anything for the new VFR. I've got a Garmin Zumo 660 that I want to put on the bike and think the center stem mount would be a wonderfully clean way to do it making it look almost integrated into the factory cluster.

Very nice setup. Do you know the name of the Logger App? I haven't been able to find it.

The LOGGER APP comes from MCN (Motorcycle News) Motorcycle News UK | Motorbikes | MCN. As far as I know it only works for iPhone.

The RAM MOUNT parts numbers are as follows: RAM Mount Apple iPhone 3GS Fork Stem Motorcycle Mount RAM-B-176-AP6U
Note that the part number will be different for a different phone of GPS.

The USB connector is a marine type connector from BARNEYS ELECTRONICS
    161 East Union Avenue
    East Rutherford, NJ 07073
It is a Clarion CCAUSB USB 2.0 EXTENSION CABLE W COVER

    Have fun.
