Welcome! I'm interested to see how you like the bike over time, especially on a longer multi-day trip, compared to the ST.

Hey Toy - welcome aboard and congrats!

    What Porsche was saying:

Your year bike - aka the 5th gen - was notorious for having problems with the regulator/rectifier (r/r). By using the "advanced search" field in the upper right section of this forum, you will uncover about 487,296 posts (just on this forum) on the R/R, but that's a low estimate.

Bottom line is that you probably want to make sure you either have a spare R/R, of that you're current one has been updated.

welcome to the site. I have looked at the ST a few times, but there are a few things I didn't like. The VFR seems to been well balanced for the kind of riding I do so I stick with it.

Oh great!!! Not what I wanted to hear. R+R huh. I will reserch this and whip it. I don't scare that easy. I like to work on my bikes. I still have not figured out how to post pixs on your site , I can't find the browse images cliky thingy. Im not as good with the computer as I am with a wrench. And I can't spell worth a darn. Oh well, It does'nt matter.Oh there is an after market box under my seat, wired into my bike. Im gonna take a closer look at that thing maybe its the r+r fix you spoke of. Ok I just looked at the box under the seat. It is a dynojet power comander. Is that part of the fix or something else?

The luggage isn't a problem, add a Givi rack and you can pop luggage on-off with ease, at least as much as the ST.

    Hey Toy.
    Welcome aboard!
I looked at an ST B4 I bought my Gen 4. 3 gen5's later, i have never owned an ST. your comparison will be interesting.
keep us posted with what you find. re the RR....pffffffft......just buy a spare & keep it under the seat. you'll never need it.

The R/R is a relatively easy fix. if you're good with a wrench (I'm not) you can easily do this. A lot of people swear by this site as well:

    Wire My Bike

Your Power Commander - or PC for short - has nothing to do with the R/R. This is an aftermarket "chip" in simple terms. You can either download certain maps (fuel/air ratio mixes) from Dynojet, or, if you want to, you can bring the bike to a shop and they will provide you with a custom tune (map).

And lastly, to post a pic, try this.
