    Hey all,

I'm a motorcycle addict, and at 21, I've already owned and sold 38 motorcycles. I sold my last bike, a '79 Suzuki GS 750e, earlier this year, and was without a bike until a friend of mine offered to sell me his '84 Magna 700. Well, I picked it up, and it's rough, but it runs great and I already can tell I'll like this one. About 3/4 of the bikes I've owned have been Hondas, and this one is the newest and most complicated by far (second newest, an '81 CB 750c with a bum starter clutch). As it sits, after replacing one coil, I've got it running on all 4 cylinders, and it's extremely torquey and runs great, but I think the clutch may be slipping. I bled the clutch lines, and that improved the clutch action, but it still sucks. First big question: What repair manual do you guys swear by? In the Volkswagen world (I have 5 Volkswagens, the newest being a '90), we swear by the Bentley repair manuals, but do you guys just live with Haynes and Chilton, or what? Second, how much oil should I put into this beast? It appears to be way overfilled, and I have a hunch that is why the clutch is slipping.

I'll take pictures soon, as I'm not a forum newbie, and I know that's all you guys click on these posts for.

Thanks for having a forum for my new bike!

Awesome dude and welcome aboard. Why did you go through so many bikes? I went through 6 before I found the one I like.

Only factory manuals for me unless there is nothing else available. On my VF500 there is a dipstick on the right side of the motor towards the back. I don't know if the 700/750s were the same but I'd start there. Welcome to the loony bin.

Heh, the majority of those motorcycles were less than $100. Think 7 Trail 90s, 2 350s, 2 360s, 3 305s (still have those, actually), 2 CB 750s, and tons of mopeds and random parts bikes. My parents weren't too thrilled when I filled their barn with 25 broken motorcycles in high school.

    Thanks for the welcome, folks.

The only thing I can say is that it's a good thing you don't live in an apartment.

Well OK then. How bout we balance things some by letting this nutty kid in and tossing out some of the psychos and retards. Can we say that? if not, how bout chemically challenged and intellectually null.

I need to ask this. As a LEO who probably makes decent money, when are you going to buy that pretty lady a bed so she doesn't have to sleep on those bikes of yours? I'm always afraid she may roll over and fall off. Not too bad on grass but that darn asphalt is hard.

So, I deliver pizzas part time...so I wouldn't say I make decent money. I'm actually a senior in college, at UW Whitewater, for journalism.

Also, I have a comfy bed, on wheels!
