Hi - UK VF owner new to the site. I have two 1983 VF750F's - one I was given as a freebie has been stood for over 15 years. Complete except carbs and airbox, but in a very sorry state.

The other I bought off ebay - I'd been quoted £100 for carbs and airbox assemblies and this complete but non running bike came up for not much more - so I bought it instead of the carbs.

This one is in much better condition, such that the first one has now become a parts bike, though the frame and most other parts are in cleanable condition, so any parts I use off that will be replaced ready for a rebuild.

I've cleaned the ebay bike up and given her a quick rattle can spray job - got her running (electrics and filthy carbs were the problem) got her through an MOT and on the road. I plan to restore the first bike while the other's on the road, though I'm considering a few mods - then swap em over and restore the second.

I've had quite a few bikes in the past - these are the first V4's I've had.

I'll post some pics as soon as I figure out how..

Got a video of the ebay bike just after I got her running for the first time.

Try some sea foam for cleaning the engine. both in the gas, and oil (shortly before an oil change). its an amazing product. your oil will come out as sludge from everythign it cleans off of hte parts. the sludge that keeps the new oil from getting to the parts to lube it.

    Sea foam

I dunno if they have that in the UK - never seen it. Maybe there's an equivalent product - might be a bit late though - posted a thread in 1st gens forum - it's developed a noise already (after 400 miles use...)
