I'm new to the forum but have owned my 1985 VF500F since the bike was new. I ashamed to sy it only has just over 5100 ORIGINAL miles on it. I do nior work on the bike myself: fork seals, brakes, chain, carb rebuilds, etc.

Just got the bike inspected yesterday (Virginia) and on the way home after a quick 70 miles or so the clutch started grabbing...would not shift...had to ease into neutral if I came upon a red light or just cruise on through STOP signs when I could.

Anyway the master cylinder was dry. Refilled and bled the system using a MityVac...Am now noticing slow hydraulic fluid leak under the bike's shift lever. Drops fluid overnight, puddles about the size of a quarter. What is the 3rd "O" ring fix I've been reading about here? Can anyone suggest the correct "O" ring size before I go through trial and error?

This forum is agreat find and i hope to be able to add some fixes and hints from time to time. Thanks

Welcome aboard! 5,100 on the clock is nice indeed and a shout out on being the original owner.

Not sure what part you are referencing - here is a copy of the parts list fiche for the gear shift:

A better drawing from the FM.

I am always impressed when I study these drawings - India ink on Mylar.

Honda had some very talented draftsman back in the day:
