my gas tank moves around a bit, it's not going to fall off it looks as though it's not missing any parts, i have a bolt, a nut, sleeve and two bushings. is this just normal or am i missing something?

It sounds like you may be missing the rubber bushings (2) that attach near the front of the tank. When the tank goes on the front part slides into/under a little bar up front. The two bushings merely keep it in place and keep it from vibrating. Either you didn't get the front of the tank in properly or your missing one or both of the bushings. If you have a service manual look under the tank removal section for a picture of what I'm talking about or find a parts dealer on line that has the parts diagram to get a better idea. Hope that helps.

There should be a rubber "buffer" about 1" long on each side of the tank between tank and frame.

Those little bastards are easy to lose and needed pretty badly. Without them the frame will get pretty doinked up and the paint on the edge of the tank as well. Not to mention it is really annoying.
