    Hi all,

Figured I'd introduce myself as I have recently become the owner of a silver 2002 VFR800A. I live and work just outside of Toronto, Ontario - we've had a great year for bikes - warm and dry! This is my second VFR - the first was a 1990 VFR750F which I loved and eventually sold with 115,000Kms on the clock. It still ran like a dream. In between I have owned a 1999 CBR1100XX and a 2003 DRZ400S - all fun bikes.

The new bike is a blast and I think the styling is very sharp. The power is decent and the VTEC is quite noticeable - although most of the time I seem to stay below the necessary RPM. The bike has 37Ks on it and is in great shape. Riding it reminds me of the 1990 although I'm a few years older now and it's a bit harder on the back, butt and wrists so I will be looking at some Helibars and maybe a new seat. The bike came with a set of Staintune pipes on it - which really look great and makes the bike "bark". I figured I'd see what it was like with the stock mufflers so I spent this morning switching back - it's incredible how quiet the bike is now. I went out for a ride this afternoon and really liked it so I think I might keep the stock units on the bike. Keep an eye on the classifieds if anyone is looking for a mint set of Staintunes.

I'm really enjoying reading all of the forum posts. Would be good to meet-up with some local VFR riders and go for a spin. I'll try to post some pictures of bikes present and past

Beautius maximus bike. BTW, my bike came with staintunes, but i sold them, put money in my pocket and semi-gutted the orig. cans. Sounds just as good.

Welcome to the forum and the VFR community again! There are quite a number of riders in Ontario and there is a specific "Ontario VFR" group with their own mailing list which I can shoot you info on if you want. We have a lot in common, we VFR riders are generally more mature, quite often married with kids and we demand more versatility form our mounts. But you already know this having logged 115,000 kms on a 3rd gen machine.

Keep posting those pictures and telling your stories!

Welcome! I am curious about the Helibars thing, because I have heard so many people wanting/needing them, but my wrists were fine even after a 1,000 km day. And I'm a wimp! Where and how does it hurt or bother you, if I may be so bold?

Welcome for sure. I just may be interested in those Staytunes. Of course depending on their condition, the price and the cost to me to ship them out to the west coast.

My first VFR just turned over 108K km last time I rode it and it ran like a clock. That was three days ago on my 06. I do put on the miles.

I am running the stock handlebars and like digitallyhip recently went on a long trip. ( actually same trip) without any problems. And I do have considerable back issues. I did acquire a Sargent Seat recently and I do believe this made a difference. But last year I drive from Chilliwack, BC to Atascadero California with the stock seat and it was not bad at all. I think a everyone is somewhat different. Different weights, callouses and cellulite concentrations

Thanks for the great welcome - it's great to be in the company of so many people who share a similar passion - and have great taste in bikes! I'm so envious of you guys out in BC; there's so many beautiful places to ride. I always promised myself that I'd make it out there on a bike someday. I have a great memory of being in the Fraser Valley by Lightning Lake and watching a guy coming round a long sweeping corner on a sport bike, surrounded by pristine nature.

As far as comfort goes, I should disclose that I'm 6'2 and 230lbs - which is about 30lbs over what I should be. No complaints with my legs - haven't had any cramping yet although no really long rides either. The pain I get is mainly in my right wrist and it usually occurs in the city with stop and go riding. When I use the front brake my weight is transferred forward and my wrists usually take the brunt. If I try to pinch the tank with my legs and keep my weight off my wrists, I have to arch my back which then aches. When I'm riding on the highway it's more comfortable because there's less frequent braking and the wind keeps me supported.

Randy, I'll flip you a note on the pipes - they are mint - not sure what they go for used so will do some research. I was impressed at the way the mufflers came apart from the mid pipe. It makes removal and installation a little easier than the stock pipes as you don't need to lift the entire system.

Here's a couple of other pictures - my daughter wanted to sit on Dad's new bike! The other is my snowmobile project that I picked up in the spring. I'm not a "sledder" but I got a pretty good deal on this machine so I figured it might be fun to learn a bit about snowmobiles. Haven't had the chance to ride it yet but I did fire it up before summerizing it and the thing appears to have some power - the motor is a liquid cooled 700CC 2-stroke!

    Enjoy!

Nice ride, Yamaha SRX is a pretty quick machine too. Too heavy for a mountain sled, but a great trail and open lake machine. I have a polaris XLT RMK that I'm wanting to sell because I don't ride it anymore
