Awesome tire... Love that tire ... Great tire. Get a set and be happy...

That said, you need to know that this is not a marathon tire.. Not 10K mileage etc. It is a SPORT tire and thus is built to do SPORT things. Commuting/slabbing it=not SPORTING. Back roads, curves and mountain goat trails = SPORTING.

I get about 5500-6K out of a set. I change about twice a year but i put miles on my bike. It so far is my favorite tire for sport riding on my 06.

If you are not riding edge to edge and do nt want to, try the 021 or 023.

a decent ride, but has a relatively stiff sidewall which some folks like (better feel). I found the ride too harsh, and honestly the 16s are kinda getting long in the tooth. A comparable and more modern tire would be a Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa, Dunlap Q2 (lovem) - much stickier with quicker warmup and better manners

You sure about that? The 16 has only been out for littel over a year. They and their big brother bt003 both hit the market at the same time.

I bought my fisrt set shortly after they hit shelves. Rosso Came out around the same time. The newest tire to make an impact is the New michelin power pure.

Not trying to start a fight just checking. The long inthe tooth comment got my attention.

indeed I am, both BIKE and SUPERBIKE describe the BT16 and Pirelli DCIII as "great, but technology has moved on" and are driving folks towards the (excellent) Dunlop Q2 and Diablo Rosso or Rosso/Corse

A fella such as yourself has to make sure that he doesn't possibly get caught using something that a magazine has said is outdated.

OK. Here's another question... What's the deal with "Dynabeads"? Anybody ever use these? I'm not sure about putting things inside my tires. Also that PJ-1 tire balancing goop.. I can't see that being any good when tire changing time rolls around. Any thoughts or experiences out there?

I understand the theory behind the beads but i was jsut not interested.

I have Dyna Beads in the VFR and the SV. I tried them out of plain old curiosity and convenience, figuring if they didn't work I would buy the Marc Parnes balancing tool. As far as I can tell, they work just fine. They are supposedly reusable at least once, but I haven't figured out a clever way of retrieving them yet.

Thanks for all of the input!
I did considerable searching for posts on other forums about the beads and only found one or two bad reviews. Most reviews were very positive. One did say they were no good at 100+, but after checking with Dyna they said he should reduce the amount from 1oz / 2oz to 0.5oz / 1oz. Another guy swears by them on his R1 track bike.
I guess it's ilke anything else out there.... some will swear by it, some will swear at it. [e.g.: Dunlops]
So I figure I'll start there and see for myself. For 12 bucks it's worth a shot.
    I'll let you know.
