Bike has started and run like a champ since I got used over a year ago. Yesterday morning went to start and when I turned the key and hit the start button got a click and everything went dead, even the clock. GOt back that night and checked main fuse, still good, as well as fuel pump fuse, etc. After remiving and replacing fuses bike would turn on again but when I hit the start button same issue, everything went dead. Is it the starter shorting and the computer shutting down to avoid frying or something, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

sounds basic, but i gotta ask, does your battery have enough power to crank the motor? my 84 had an old battery that one day just "gave up"...sounds like you've got the same symptoms

Sounds like ur battery is dead- the clicking is the starter relay trying to send power to the starter motor- have you got 12 volts at the battery?

If your battery has good voltage and passes a load test the next easy check would be the main chassis ground - tight and clean. Tight and clean is good.

This sounds like exactly the same thing that happened to me this week. Check the battery and the charging system, etc.
