Just wondering what you guys think of this deal:

My dealer (yes, I went back after all the trouble getting the bike) offered to beat the price of bagking.com (links below) on the Ogio stealth line saddle bags, tail bag, tank bag and backpack which was $334.80 with free shipping. The dealer offered $337.70 out the door, the only caveat is I would have to wait a week for one of the items to be shipped in.

Do you think going with the dealer's offer would be the best price? Obviously no, but $3 for the convenience of getting 3/4 of them tomorrow?

I'm also looking into getting the rear grab handles for my '98 vfr. I found a site that would ship them for $195.13 total. Anyone know if that could be beat?

Yea, that's what I was thinking too. Besides that, I can pick them up tomorrow if I really want to.

Has anyone used these bags? How's the quality?

You should be able to get the grab handles used for anywhere from $50.00 to $100.00 per pair. Check eBay. Advertise here, also. Also, I believe you can get them from Honda for about $140.00 per pair new. Who quoted you nearly $200.00? Seems awfully high.

I was just searching the web, trying to find someone that sold them. I found them for $195 or so with the bolts and shipping here:

Wow! I could swear I've seen them new for less. You should consider getting a used set. I rarely use mine anymore, so I'm glad I saved some money and bought them used.

I've got an ad up on here and have started watching ebay/craigslist for a used set, but it doesn't seem promising. The main reason I even want to get them is to fill the whole left near the back seat when the rear cover is off.

When I bought my 5th Gen in January of 2008, it did not have the grab handles. My salesguy at the dealership said they should have been included, so he ordered them and I paid his price: $80. For both.

Now maybe I got reaaaaly lucky based on the prices being quoted above, but $85 bucks a handle seems high.

I use the Ogio back pack and the quality is very good. The pack is semi rigid so it doesn't flap around at freeway speeds ( or above). The helmet pouch is kind of odd because it stickes out so far behind you, but it does work. I would buy it again if i had to replace it.
I looked at the saddle bags and the seem to be good quality also.

The pics of the tail bag confuse me as to how it mounts and looks once mounted. If you do end up getting it I would love to see some pics as I have been contemplating a tail bag instead of a tank bag.

Edit: and for only $3 more for the instant delivery of most of it and being able to help out a local retailer instead of some nameless person online, hell yes get it local if they're treating you well. It will bennefit you in the long run when you need something else and you come back to them.

If they'll keep that price for me, I'm going to go pick up the stuff when I get the bike back from service. Most of the people I've dealt with at this dealer have been great. Only a couple have caused some issues and I don't think any of it was intentional.

Hopefully, this weekend will have some decent weather and I can get a few pictures. The dealer photos are nice, but very impersonal...

    Skaai,

The Ogio ad says the saddlebags have "heat resistant" bottoms.
That doesn't mean they can rest on the muffler.
I would make sure you have about 3" clearance.

After you get them mounted, how about some close-up pics?

Definitely. Another thing to add to the plus list for buying locally; ability to return them if they aren't a good fit.

Should have the bike tomorrow and some pics uploaded by Sunday or so.

I wasn't able to get to the dealer before the salesman that I was working with left on Friday, so I don't have the bags or pics to show off. I'm planning on going in there tomorrow morning to get them if they're still holding them for me.

I'll get some pics as soon as I can.

I was just browsing around while working this afternoon and found a coupon code for bagking.com

    school10

It will get you 10% off your orders if anyone is looking to get new bags. I'm not sure what all they have there since I was only looking for the Ogio stuff. Anyway, I was able to get $30 or so off with it, thought it might help someone else too.
