Customer sees my 85 500 parked outside the store, comes in and tells me his son left a bike just like it in his backyard. Anyway he sends me pics and supposedly it's an 85 1000R. In case anyone is interested in taking on a project or needs parts (I'm not, and I don't). Not sure how much he wants for it, but he seems to know it's a rare bike so it won't be a freebie. Location: somewhere in Montreal. Here are pics (higher res available if you want em emailed to you):

It looks like that ole' girl is gonna need a lot of work to get her back into shape. I'd stay away from it unless he was practically giving it away.

Yeah, it's too bad because it looks "complete". Too bad whoever parked it there 3-4 years ago didn't at least cover it up.....

Even for free you would need to make this a personal thing, no money to be made but could have one like VFRCpn's with enough love.

To restore one of these bikes, you really need to start with something that is pretty complete and in good shape. That is, unless you have a budget with no limit. The way this bike looks, I don't think restoring it would ever be worth the money.

That is really sad. I agree - they could have at least covered it with a $5 tarp from Walmart?

I see a foot peg and a clutch handle that's usable.

    The rest is junk. recycle

Sad. There is nothing worse that someone doing a crap repaint over a classic and letting it go like that. That was an amazing, beautiful bike some years ago.

Ah, squids and their delusions of motorcycle greatness.
Some squids got their grubby hands on my bike before the other PO got it and painted it an ugly candy red.
I'll soon be correcting their horrible choice of paint to return it to it's former RWB glory.

Man, I would buy that in a heartbeat. In fact, it would be worth the drive for me to get it (assuming the price was right). Sure, there is lots of work there but once completed it would be a nice bike.

mtl - if you have some contact information for the owner please PM it to me. Thanks!

 I had an 85' and loved it! It was a wreck much like this one. I put it back together and painted it with the 91 color & graphics and had a lot of fun blowing the doors off or the 750's and 800's. They had a few questions about why this bike ripped them a new one, that is until they got a closer look at it. I had that bike form 1986 till 2004. Wish I still had it!
