    Blackberry.

But if I decide to get a new one, I'd go with the Droid. (Although there's so many variations of it already).

I think you'll be hard pressed to find any hard core Apple user that would be willing to switch to a Droid.

I'm a Driod Eris user myself, but I like the features of the iPhone. Driod is catching up w/apps and nobody beats Verizon for coverage, at least not in Cali.

I love the Happy Hours app on the iphone. I travel a lot so it's nice to know where all the drink specials are in strange cities.

I'm sure ya'll know already but I'm also sure there are a bunch of non-phone techies here. "Droid" is a phone. "Android" is the operating system. "Yes I have a droid phone." "No. You have an HTC phone, you have android OS on it."

Iphone.....got it as a gift. Now I cant live without a smartphone. In fact, if it werent for the camera on this thing, I would never remember to take a pic of anything because Im not one of those people that recognizes Kodak moments.

Apps rule, I have lots that I like, and I have nowhere near what some have.

Once the droid catches up and surpasses the iphone, I will probably switch. Apple is a good marketer but that proprietary nonsense they are into gets annoying. At least they are good at innovation and then the market runs with what they started and improves it.

I know that you Cunda probably know a pantload more about these things than I do, so why the poll? Are you trying to figure out or prove some kind of sales figure points so you can start your own business? ehheheeheheheee

Really long post ahead. Skip it if you dont have time to kill!

Yes, Droid by motorola ( and that is the official way it must be stated in our stores ) is a copyright of lucas creative blah blah blah because he owns the term "Droid" ...these are not the droid's you seek but it is running Googles operating system "Android".

I have an iPhone and a Droid. I have had a windows based phone and a blackberry.

I have never been a Blackberry fan,but that OS definatly has its place. The reason I started the poll was just out of sheer curiosity...not proffesional interest. I am pretty nerdy/geeky/tekkie but I am not really that passionate about selling phones. I DO, however have a strong interest in our vfr community and just wondered how many people here were using all this new technology that seems to be taking us to the next level of ( but not limited to ) social networking, etc etc.

I think that the iPhone is WAY more user freindly out of the box, yet extremely powerful if you want to get all nitty gritty and hack into the thing.

I think that the android OS is much less user freindly out of the box, because it is pretty much hacked right out of the box (open source). Lots and Lots of complicated settings and buttons that you don't know what they do until you spend a few days with it. ( I am speaking in terms of if this was your first smartphone ).

The blackberry is probably the most solid device out of all three, as far as basic calling, texting and emails. Not as user freindly as the iPhone ( if you want to know where something is at on your iPhone, just look for a picture of it and press it - viola ) and no where near as configurable or powerful unless you really want to rebuild the thing with custom softwares and risky roms.

Windows based OS isnt on the poll yet, but I was hoping to have it there, and whoever changed it over to a poll for me ( Reggie or Michael I asume ) can maybe add it in? My take on the windows phones in my experiance ( having owned a few myself ) was this... No where near as cool when it comes to the touch interface as the iPhone or droid, M$ just didnt get it right IMHO. Microsoft also keeps you just as locked down as the blackberry does, and doesnt have the cool games and aps as the first two contenders. However, it does have a very familiar interface for alot of PC users out there if they want a simple to use smart phone that can tackle alot of bussiness related tasks and leave plenty of room for intertainment ( I set up my bosses phone to stream hulu movies over his sprint HTC touch pro 2 windows based phone, and it plugs right into his high def tv, none of the other phones will do it as fluidly, if at all ).

I do not use, nor am I familiar with Palm OS, but you are welcome to chime in if that is your flavor.

Anyways, I didnt want to turn our moto forum into my own personal geekfest, but on chat earlier we were all talking about our smartphones, etc etc and I decided to make this poll ( and then someone had to fix it for me, thanks again ). Phones are differant for differant peoples lifestyles, and functionality, etc.

Coverage is just going to start an arguement so my list is only based on the device and not its carrier and / or reception.

1st place - My Droid. For sure, hands down. I don't have to constantly fight with the manufacturer just to keep the thing doing what I am doing with it. Solid communications device and can do 70% of what I need my computer for. Kickass camera to boot. Lots of time and work to get it to do what I wanted tho.

2nd place - My Iphone 3g. Laggy at times, but still a good phone. Simple to use. so-so camera. I hate the fact that in order to use certain aps I must upgrade to a newer version of the software, risking undoing all the work I did to get it to cover about 80% of what I need a computer for. The device is also dependant on a relationship with a real computer at times, and it must be monogamous. I cant hook it to my home computer and then my work computer or it erases all files that the last computer created. ARGH.

3rd place - My Blackjack 2. Decent for multimedia, laggy at times, but unlike the iPhone it is a PHONE first, and computer second. Even hacked and tweaked it could complete only about 30% of the things I would need my computer for, meaning I would have to tote my laptop around if I had to get anything other then basic computing functions done.

4th place - My Blackberry Curve 8300. The most solid of the 4 in terms of communication. Faster text and email delivery, and a solid phone all around. Very little fun... this phone was all work and no play. It made Chris a dull boy. However, for anyone that needs a good communications device without all the frivalous bells and whistles ( that I like ) it is the ideal choice.

That is a list of how my phones worked out for ME. If you have a differant phone and it works for you, dont think you are missing out. If it aint broke dont fix it. I spend hours working on my droid to make it do what I want. You may not want to, you may want to pick up a phone, call, and hang it up when done... and WTF is a text message?!

Anyways, there is my boring long ass post on cell phones. Now, lets turn em off and go ride!

I've had it for a week now and this thing is awsome! 8 meg pix camera, 4.3 inch screen and verizions network is a good start to sticking it to Mr. Jobs.

I currently own both the Moto Droid and the iPhone 3gs.

Personally I prefer the iPhones interface and for the longest their app selection.

Nowadays though, for app selection it's really a toss up - i can find what I need on both. I'm not a fan of the touch screen on the Moto Droid, so the iPhone still wins there. If I were to have the experience I have now and just have to choose one, I'd probably go with the droid just because most people I know are on Verizon, therefore allowing me to go with cheaper texting / minutes plans (i currently pay for the iPhone, the droid is paid for by work).

I've also had Blackberry's and Windows based phones. With the iPhone and Droid pretty much tied at #1, it'd then go Blackberry at #3 and the Windows phone at #4.
