no thoughts on a bike yet, still in recovery mode. I'll start looking in a few weeks. I'd love to find another VF500F, but I need to wait until I get money from the other insurance company and also if my wife will let me get another one.

I sure hope the insurance will cover for an unlicensed driver. They may tell the vehicle owner that they are SOL and they must pay out of pocket, which will lead to issues/delays/possible lawsuits for you. :(

The bike can be replaced, hopefully there is no long-term damage to you.

You walked away and got your health. You'll ride another day, hopefully the end of the week you'll be back on two wheels. Little secret...have more than one bike handy. Stay safe.

    Sorry about your bike accident.
Remember the first offer the insurance company gives you is always a loball offer.
Then they give you a little higher one, and then the third one is closer to your loss.
An x-insurance agent told this to a radio talk show audience.

I would get a lawyer. I would not take the other family's house or anything like that, but you do want compensation. While you are resting you can get the phone book out and a lawyer will take THIS case.

The father was responsible for the kid in this case also.

Got some updates. I'm improving, which is good. Having a heck of a time getting the other car's insurance figured out, which is bad. I got the bike out of the impound yard. Had to pay almost $400 to bring it home. The damage wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Looks like I could fix everything if I really had too. Here's a bunch of pics.

Sorry to hear about your accident man. I had one recently too (dog ran out in front of me), but not nearly as bad as yours.

That poor bike. Sorry your baby got in harms way.

Will their insurance company still pay since the kid was not licensed and most likely not covered on the policy or will you have to sue them ?
