I did a brief search & didn't find this scenario.....if already discussed, please direct me to the discussion. I'll try to make a brief synopsis....2004 model, battery has been suspect since I bought the bike. March, 2010, replaced battery w/"Batteries Plus" model, started great, got busy, didn't ride and in June went to start....barely turned over, battery tender for a week (vacation), when I got back, bike wouldn't turn over. Checked battery, 11.2 volts, went back to Batteries Plus and they replaced the battery. Checked it....12.5 volts...put in bike...dash doesn't even light up...only thing working is clock. Checked voltage...10.5 volts. Back on battery tender for 3 days, checked 12.5 volt, back in bike, same result. Recharged again....12.5 volts....put in bike......didn't even turn key.....checks 10.5 volts. This has been repeated numerous times. I find it hard to believe I could get 2 batteries in a row....and I am not certain the first battery was bad. Checked w/Honda, the bike had the electrical recall performed. I have taken the ground wire from the block, looked clean and uncorroded, but cleaned thoroughly, dielectric grease and tightened. I am assuming something is shorting somewhere, ready to start removing plastic and trouble-shooting......any suggestions where to start looking? Thank you.
I'd start with the main ground clip. It could be the recall wasn't done in time to prevent damage there...
