I just bought an 86 vfr 700!!! I've ridden it and love it already (it beats the heck outta my old 82 cb450t-which I still do love) its only the third bike ive ridden and second I've owned. I commuted to work everyday this last summer on my hawk which is a great bike, but I knew I wanted to go a sportier route. I'm not sure if mine is an f2 or not and don't know really how to tell ....I'll be reading alot of threads about that... its white and pretty clean for having 35k on it. there are a few things that need to be taken care of though my seat is held on by zipties and duct tape....no good but work, I need to replace the rear wheel bearing (been hearing strange sounds from the wheel- the seller told me about this) and the rear wheel wobbles when and only when I apply rear break hmmm. I'll be heading to the gen 2 forums i believe. wish me luck

PS the guy I bought it from had this crazy reflective tape all over...its sure safe

    welcome aboard

Welcome to the site. free advice- buy both the CLymer and Haynes manuals for this bike. I have in addition to those the original factory manual. I am not sure if factory manual is still available. the investment required for this bank of knowledge is minimal, considering the time and aggravation it will save you. The haynes manual has a section iin he front of the book that will help you identify model.

Welcome to the group. Best of luck with getting those things fixed. I have If you want a factory manual, you can try Helminc.com. You might be able to get one there, otherwise, I agree with danimal's suggestion. Always haev a service manual. They can be an excellent resource. And of course, as has been mentioned, there are helpful VFR owners here.

hey thanks alot everybody ...I'm looking forward to conversing online!!!
a manual is first on my list.

p.s.I am pretty sure there is more holding the bike together than the reflective tape !! ha! ther is a picture of me on it as my profile picture.
