Nope, lean. Silly PO put F1 pipes on without proper jetting.

Good thing it has CV carbs or the pour thing would have cafe pods pipes and stock jets. :nono:

When I finaly get the right jets probably gonna be hitting a little lower numbers.

My vf1000r has f1 pipes and a k&n filter you dont need a jet kit just shim up your needles a little, "jet kit is a waste of money". And a bit of a over kill for just the pipes. A little shim of the needles took care of my flat spots and back fire.

Had to read the whole post to figure out what bike we were talking aboot. Sounds aboot right given the cc's and carbs. Now if the prairie got that MPG you should be pleased.

Sensors in gas tanks are analog. You may have a digital readout with bars and flashing lights ect, but until you do an actual calculation using your odometer and the amount of fuel used, your figures can be way off.

On my 91, pretty much the SOS with the tank float and the "get your butt to the gas station" light. When my overall fuel level is low the light will come on when the bike is on the side stand and go off if the bike is put on the centerstand.

Fuelly is a website that allows you to track MPG on all of your vehicles and compare them to other "real world" people doing the same thing. It's free to sign up and use. Fuelly

I'm there too...160ish miles with 2 bars left.

I can get to 200 miles before I start to blink.

    On the slab of course!

I have no idea what kind of mileage I get, nor do I care. But I do know I have about 3000 more miles of twisties left in my PR2 tires.

I actually don't "care" either except for the fact that baseline fuel consumption can be a useful machine health indicator especially for a complete dummy like me.

I once went so fast my that my mirrors folded down. But that resulted in better gas mileage.

I've notice multiple times that the engine temp and tire pressure on the vfr makes a noticeable difference in mpg. Runs too cold and you get shit mpg. It's amazing what a few psi tire pressure will do to your mpg.

Ranger brings up something VERY important here. What are your running temperatures? Below 170F after you are warmed up? We could be looking at a bad thermostat here. This is exactly what happened to me when mine went bad and a drop in fuel economy was the only thing that tipped me off there was a problem. Then I finally noticed that my running temps were seriously low (150's). As soon as the stuck thermostat was replaced, my MPG shot right back up where it was supposed to be.

    150 miles per tank??

Sorry to hear that. On the I-10 in AZ, I'm getting 45-46.5mpg with speeds of 75-80mph. The bike is an '07 and bone stock. My Ducati 1098 is a whole other story-32mph at the same speeds.

I hit 150 and had to put a gallon and a half in because I was going somewhere farther away...ruined my plan to run it out to get the mileage..odometer is sitting at 200 right now and I am not sure what is left in the tank but the light hasn't come on nor have I switched to reserve....
