Just got another bike. The starter works fine off the engine, but on , all it does is click. Can't get crankshaft to budge. Squirted some oil and some PB blaster into cylinders, still won't budge..Even tried rolling it down driveway and shifting into second, rear tire leaves skid marks. Any ideas on how to free up whats frozen? Bike only has 13000 on it , but has been sitting unused for 15 years. This is not a VF, it is a 85 cb650 nighthawk, inline four. I may get cursed for asking about a CB on this site, but , you guys really know your stuff, I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot. Thanks for any help.

I have a pretty low opinion of PB Blaster. I'd try partially filling the cylinders with Kroil, leave the plugs out and then try spinning it over after is has sat like that for a few days (if it spins it's going to spray oil everywhere so take proper precautions). If it's still seized after that I'm gonna say that you're going to have to pull the motor apart to get it freed up. Can you see if there is any rust in the cylinders? Was it stored with the plugs in or out? What were the storage conditions?

There is a small cover at one end of crankshaft under which you can access a large nut and attempt to turn crank with a socket and breaker bar, but it seems you're well and truly siezed up.

pour some diesel fuel down the cylinders and let it sit. If rings are seized/rusted, it should free them up

Thanks jakobi, I will try kroil and maybe some other stuff too.
Can't tell about rust in cylinders, but all but one plug looked normal, the forth one just a little black and fouled. As far as I can tell , it was stored inside most of time ( very little rust anywhere. The guy I got it from said, "the tank rusted out years ago, and just never replaced it." Bike looks remarkably good for a 25 year old.

After pulling clutch master cylinder off? No telling what kind of krud has formed on pistons, rings, valves and whatnots. Clutch MC was all gunked up with krud and plunger spring is frozen compressed...gotta take it apart and see what is usable. Slave probably same way, haven't gotten to it yet.
    For $ 250.00 couldn't pass it up.
Diesel sounds like an option too!
