Are the carbs complete with the exception of being disassembled?

I'm not sure, probably not. A good set of interceptor carbs fetches easily close to $100 on ebay and just the carb bodies go for about $50 (feel free to check ebay now) so the price reflects what you're buying and is still a good deal. You would need to rebuild these like you would any old pair (the $100 carbs on ebay included) with new jets, diaphrams, gaskets, etc. I think all I removed from these was a fuel hardline but I'm not sure. It goes without saying that the carbs and parts are sold "as is" but I am happy to provide any pictures and info needed to interested parties.

By the way, I'm still looking for a good gas cap/key and a nice and straight brake lever. I would be happy to work out a trade of some kind. A local fella has offered me $200 for everything so if I don't sell a significant portion of the parts in the next week or two, I will just sell him the lot.

Sorry for getting back to you so late; I've been very distracted with the beautiful weather and other projects. I have the carbs packaged up at the moment and I'm not home so I cannot check on the fuel line. Could you send me a link to a pic of it or some other info so I could easily identify it?

Heya. The bike is looking pretty nice; good craftsmanship going into it. Post more updated pics as they come along.

About the chain, I would bet it would fit but I'm not 100% sure. If the chain is too long you can just shorten it of course. I'm on vacation at the moment and won't be home for a week but when I get back I can measure the chain, count the links, whatever it is you want to know; just let me know. adios!

Now I know which part you're talking about. That is actually the only part I physcially removed from the spare carbs I have for sale as I broke the tube on my set of carbs when taking them apart so I don't have it; sorry to be of no use. I figure that if I break the one on their now then I'll just spring for the expensive metal ebay fuel tubes. best of luck.

Hey there sig. Pics would be great when you get a chance. The only thing I did to the wheels was to remove alot of the rust that was on them with some steel wool and the like, otherwise they're totally stock. Are they much different than your wheels? On the xs400 I used some black pinstriping here and there but nothing on the Interceptor.

85 VF700F starter DESPERATELY needed - something that runs/works, not ebay junk

Im in a world of hurt... 2 years ago i bought an 85 vf700f and loved it. My girlfriend got her license and took it over. Till the starter died. Ebay for a used one lasted 1 season. Ebay for another lasted almost 1 season. Then rebuild kit, and it seems the magneto was bad. So i am in desperate need of a starter that works for sure. I will also happily take any advice on where I can order a new one or send this one to get repaired that wont be $200 or $260 for OEM.

Barring that though I am def interested in the rear section with hand holds and key/lock. Do you have the right side controls for "run/stop and start" the switch sticks a little and light flickers when you start it... so im needing one of those too.

Any help will greatly increase my chances of keeping her happy, but hey... if i cant find the parts at least she cant take the bike with if she leaves me right???

Heya. You've had some bad luck with starters it sounds like. I wish I could help you out but I don't have a starter. I did have one but gave it to a fella I sold a spare 700 engine too last month. I'm not even sure where to tell you to look that won't end up costing you more money in the future and not be crazily expensive as buying new.

I also don't have a right hand switch and could probably use one myself actually. I broke one of the starter button mounts and the spring no longer stays in place so when I push it in it sticks. I've trained myself to pull it out with my thumb so I never found a need to spring for a new one. Have you taken your switch apart? A sticky starter button, if not busted, is an easy fix (just be careful you don't break it like I did).

Now, with the rear seat section I can help you out and will send you a PM momentarily discussing how I will go about collecting your first born as payment.

no worries there... i have a broken tab as well, so i have the same starter button problem... i know she has left the switch in and smoked at least one starter that way with it turning while she drives... As for the payment... since its for her bike can I use her firstborn as payment??? Mines kinda cute and still trainable... could you use a 15yo boy whos unable to follow directions, but plays the hell out of video games for something???? Lets talk trade shall we?
