I've had both Sargent and Corbin seats in the past. For me Sargent works much better. I find the Corbin much too firm. The Sargent seems to have a nice balance between support and comfort.

I chose Sargent - nice fit, good delivery and comfortable ... firmer and flatter than stock

I've had Corbin's on an 200 F4 and a 07 GSXR750 and loved the hell out of them. If you order a Corbin, they ask for your height and weight..etc. So, if you get a used Corbin, you have to take into account that the guy before you may have been a 300lb monster and the seat will be hard as hell. Plus, Corbin uses a hell-a-ishsly heavy duty seat pan in their seats. Which makes them flex less and move around less then stock seats.

I'm starting to sound like a Corbin rep! lol

I like Sargents seats too though, always found them to be firm yet not all flexxy like most stock seats.

Breaking my Corbin's in did take a bit of riding, but I found if you use some good leather conditioner to clean them, as you should with leather, they break in quicker and seem to soften up a bit more.

BTW, a new Corbin is on it's way for my VFR1200. The wife is whining about how the backseat sucks on it. Which is too bad because I actually like the stock seat on the VFR1200.

I got a stock seat available

    Hi,

I got a stock seat from my 2003 VFR that I need to part with. You can have it cheap, I just want it gone. I got a Corbin that is great for me. I hope this post isn't inappropriate. Contact me if interested

Just ordered a Sargent, should be here tomorrow, can't wait. BTW, with this purchase I have officially spent more on "accessories" than the bike it self... Didn't expect that :)

you might want to try it in the classifieds or in the for sale message area. this is more or less just a comparo thread I did a while back with other people's impressions listed in replies.

+ 1 on the sargent. Had mine on my 2000 for the last 17000 miles & no regrets. I started out at 260 lbs and it has held up so far. (dropped to 220 so far, so I'm hoping it will last even longer as I continue the drop)

Wow! The sargent even helps with weight loss... They should put that in their ads!

Not quite. I joined a "biggest loser" contest @ work. (the fat bastard edition) I'm pretty competitive and schooled them to the tune of $500. I feel better and decided to continue. It more than made up for the price of the seat. (Which I bought in a group buy on vfrd for $300 delivered) Ride safe, Dave

Is buying Corbin and all those other mass produced seats and seat covers some kind of cult thing? Does anyone check out the upoholstery shops in thier own hoods?

Contrary to popular lore, they do not send you out the door with a second hand Lazyboy and a handfull of 36" wireties.

Is that bike/seat combo some sort of gay thing? I am very much against that. Not so much from a moral aspect but with all the other things that dudes are slapping on bikes it could prove dangerous.

have you done, or do you know of any comparison test of this exact nature between these three seats for a 02-09 VFR? i only ask because i recently bought a 06 that has a sargent seat on it right now, and i think the seat totally sucks. i cant ride for more than 40 miles without a good amount of pain in my rear end. im thinking of switching to a corbin, but if the comfort level is going to be the same i dont want to waste my money. i bought this bike after reading all the reviews and reports of people who absolutely loved this bike and were able to put hundreds of miles a day on these things with hopes of doing the same. is it just the design of the bike that puts a ton of weight on your tail bone? or is it really just the saddle that sucks. ive been riding a TL1000 for the last 6 years and am sick of being uncomfortable. please advise...

    Hey rtisan,

I bought an '06 last October. It came with a stock seat. It took me a while to get used to the seating position as I was used to a large cruiser. With some advice from this site I got the proper seating technique down and found things much more comfortable for my hands and neck especially.

I got a Sargent seat this past spring. It's better than the stock seat but by how much is purely subjective. I can't say that it was a HUGE difference for me.

I find the bike comfortable for an hour or two before my ass starts to ache. I've never felt pressure on the tailbone area though (except for when I was on a cruiser).

I'm not sure if the hour or two before discomfort kicks in is different than most other bikes, though. I figure that if you really want something that'll be super comfortable for hours on end, you have to get a real tourer - and in fact, if I were to ever upgrade it would probably be to something like the Honda ST1300.

billygoat, thanks for the insight. i bought a stock off ebay and tried it out last night. i found the seat to be much softer and therfore more comfortable. but i can only imagine how the lack of support in the cushioning will quickly become a problem on a long ride. so what is the proper seating technique you learned? im not experiencing any pain in my neck or arms or wrists or back (which is awesome because on my TL after 50 miles i had pain in all of those), just my butt. i wish someone would tell me that a corbin seat would solve all my problems, but i just havent heard that yet. right now im going to just chalk it up to a new riding position that is gonna take some getting used to.
