    Hey guys,

I changed my oil about 200 miles ago and it already looks pitch black in the viewing window. is this normal and if not, what do you think is causing it? should i be concerned? thanks

Depends on how you changed your oil. If you change it on the center stand, there is still some oil left in the engine that hasn't come out and will mix with your new oil to cause this. You are supposed to drain the oil on the side stand and fill on the center stand. Other possibilities are the oil type being used. I've noticed that synthetics stay much cleaner for longer than dyno oils and semi-synthetic oils.

I use Rotella T 5W40 synthetic and get the same thing. I have read that actually that is a good thing since it shows the detergents are doing their job.

Even thought the reccomended interval on the Gen 6 is 8k miles I do mine a little more often (at least once a year) since it gets so hot.
